Matt emailed me today, to let me know that on some cards handed out at recent Tool shows, some clues were given as to an upcoming Puscifer tour:
P.S. Fall Tour soon to be announced. Starting around Halloween. Starts in Vegas, San Diego, Oakland, Portland, Seattle, Vancouver, Salt Lake, Denver, A bunch in Texas, Albuquerque maybe? & Phoenix I think. Perhaps new music as well, & live video stuff. Happy?
Maynard has already hinted at this on Twitter, so I imagine dates will come out some time after the Tool tour winds up. Â I wonder if Tool will hit the studio before or after that tour…

or if Tool can go ahead and record during the puscifer tour and go for their first instrumental album

I kind of like that idea. It’s really cool that the puscifer dates were announced so far ahead of time so that people can actually make plans and get good deals for booking ahead of time. It really shows where a certain someones prioritys are.
My hope is that they can record before then, but it does seem like a short span of time to do it. Considering the last we heard is that they weren’t done writing, and most albums (great ones at least) take many months to complete, I don’t see it happening. However, some bands like to tour before they record so they are tight and rehearsed. So I dunno, maybe they will. Perhaps they will lay down all the instrumental parts while Maynard is touring and then do vocal recording when he is done.
I suspect the most likely scenario… Read more »
I think this might be tool’s farewell tour. I wouldn’t mind new music but their prime is way behind them. Maynard seems to have more fun doing his own thing (Puscifer) and making is wine. I tasted his wine and its nothing special, in fact a little weird tasting and not in a good way.
Just because Maynard has been involved with Puscifer and winemaking a lot lately does not mean he isn’t interested in Tool anymore. For any of us to make that claim is ridiculous. We don’t know what he is thinking.
After this short tour, I’m sure he will go back to doing his own thing for awhile, which is fine, and them emerge again with Tool for a new record and tour.
Dont think this is a farewell Tour for Tool. I think they are just making good economic decisions. Album creation is expensive these days, without much return. Of course die hard fans are going to buy tons of copies, but it never hurts to tour and pad your accounts. It sounds like they werent ready to stop playing Jambi and Rosetta yet either. Once a new album comes out I could see those two being dropped from the set for songs like The Grudge, Patient and whatever new material they have. Stoked for the Fox Theater Puscifer Show which Maynard… Read more »
Is it possible that the cards are about Tool? Why is everyone so sure its about puscifer?

The cards talk about Puscifer one them. Also, Maynard has specifically mentioned a Fall Puscifer tour in the past.
Definitely NOT Tool.

I wonder what kind of unique package their next album will come with. Maybe I am old school, but I can’t imagine not exploring the packaging of a new album, from any band. I’ve bought a few albums on itunes, and it just isn’t the same…sigh….
Oh, and I didn’t mean to quote your link, boom.box
