The November 2009 Tool Newsletter is out, though nothing is mentioned in the news about it. I’ve only vaguely read through it, but it seemed to suggest some things about the Toolarmy downtime, though in the usual Blair fashion rather than what most of you would want to read.
Blair mentions “a private site containing a false front page/ login screen* (similar to some of the more elitist BitTorrent websites out there), ”
He may be referring to http://www.waffles.fm here. I’m sure there are other torrent sites with false logins though…
“First off, what’s the “big thing?” (Certainly it wasn’t the bonus summer tour).” -from the last paragraph of the news letter.
I guess maybe the summer tour was the “big thing”, although that setlist could hardly be described as anything but miniscule.
God now my brain hurts. Why can’t he just say what he means. What I got from it was that there isn’t actually any maintence going on and that someone fucked with it. Anyone else?
I’m pretty sure all of these news-letters he releases during the time the band isn’t doing anything are only there to fuck around with everybody’s head who takes this band too seriously. It’s probably best not to do anything more than take a quick glance at them and belt out an occasional ha-ha at his geeky jokes.

Huh? It sound pretty clear to me that the tour definitely wasn’t the Big Thing.
I wonder when it started being referred to as “The Big Thing”? In April 2008 we were told “Good things are coming…Be patient…”, and then this was turned into “The Big Thing”?
I never considered that the summer mini tour to be this “Big Thing” until Blair’s comment in this last newsletter actually. So now I’m not so sure. Not sure his comment is really all that clear…as…it actually sounds like a something coming from someone with a smirk on his face.
I’ve definitely got a new appreciation for patience though. : )

i think that section of the newsletter was meant to be sarcastic. like he’s saying , “oh, CERTAINLY it wasn’t, it COULDN’T HAVE been. this is really the first time it’s been mentioned since the tour anyways.
A friend of mine pointed out to me that the number that Blair mentions in the November newsletter (614223114422) is in fact the UPC code for aenima.

Not sure what Blair means by “Ruth Montgomery (you know, the lady depicted on the one dollar bill)”. I researched Ruth Montgomery, but I’m not sure how she’s related to the dollar bill. Anyone have any ideas? Also…in the October 2008 Newsletter Blair mentions “..the Big Thing (your words)…”, and that’s the first reference I can find from him calling it this.
