In a recent interview on Metromix.com, Maynard makes a brief mention of the Live DVD.
I have to ask: What’s up with A Perfect Circle and Tool?
Nothing I know of at the moment. There’s always writing, we’re always doing that. But as soon as I say anything…like, I mentioned 15 years ago a possibility of filming a live Tool show, and I still get asked about that! I made the mistake of opening my mouth.
The article is really about the coming Puscifer tour, so don’t go expecting more Tool chatter than what I posted…
har har. got me all psyched with the title… and then the body falls short. 8-p nice one.

I cried.

A buddy of mine only read the headline and started celebrating and calling all of his friends. He then read the rest of it, wrote a quick note, went outside for one last smoke and calmly returned to his bedroom where he shot himself. R.I.P. DAVE You will be missed.
Damn you fourtheye!
You sure your buddy didn’t just go fly a plane into a Texas branch of the IRS instead?
my infinite problem with tool….
why is it so god damn hard to release material? i greatly understand the cryptic lyrics. i understand the writing process even while in the midst of other bands… but still? there are plenty of bands that write music that is music that is more challenging than tool… and fuckers can’t even release a live DVD out of the mounds of recorded footage that’s available. i’m not hating, i just feel disrespected as a fan sometimes…

I don’t know, sigh, I just don’t know anymore. Just gonna put it out of my mind.
i know what you mean hyberbole11,
i understand that each artist creates on their own terms in their own time but tool are frustrating sometimes, it really is time for a live dvd, if they released instumental ep’s or something between the huge gaps it would a real treat for their loyal followers, sometime it feels like they dont like us or something ha
I hated this post… it wass like OMFG!! after reading it wass like…. oh..not again!!…dam you maymay!!

every time Maynard opens his mouth, Satan rejoices.
Has anyone ever attended a TOOL show where there was an official video crew filming the show in its entirety? I’ve always though TOOL and their management discouraged any kind of photography and videography during their shows.
I’m curious as to whether this supposed live DVD, this time, will include video performances by the band, or if it’s only another album with select live songs set to their usual abstract visuals, similar to Salival and Disturb the Normal.
Has anyone ever attended a TOOL show where there was an official video crew filming the show in its entirety?
The only time this has been done (in the last 15 years, anyway) was in 2002 at the last 4 or 5 shows of the tour. It was done with multiple cameras for “archival purposes” and also gave the band the option of releasing it. As far as I know, that option has not been pursued. Nearly every show since 2001 has been recorded with 1 “prosumer” grade camera in a locked wide shot from about 100′ feet… Read more »
Thanks for the confirmation, Junior. Still holding out hope that 2002 footage, along with many other goodies captured over the years, will someday be part of a live Tool DVD package. Many believe that won’t happen until after Tool hangs it up for good, and if that’s the case, I’m in no rush to see it…

Would have been nice to have seen a track or two on the Vicarious DVD or something though, or even on… Read more »

@ Budsyralli – Ah, cool, you found the thread with the Junior post I was looking for. I knew he offered up some details about those shows here, but couldn’t find it on a first pass. I’m doing some research on this now…
You probably already know this, but Markus delights in fucking with your head. That reference to easter eggs on the Vicarious DVD is of course total BS.
yes i do know….lol i actually watched this dvd today……tool is mysterious
