Maynard Interviewed about Blood Into Wine

A quick post this morning before I head off to Soundwave.  Maynard did an interview with Movieweb recently, and it’s results can be found here.  Worth the read, though it only really covers his winemaking.

Here’s a random quote:

You usually have control of your artistic endeavors, but Page and Pomerenke had final cut on this documentary. How difficult was it for you to hand over the reigns on something that is so important to you? Were there aspects of this film that you didn’t necessarily want shown?
Maynard James Keenan: The cut that you see now is not the cut they presented to us initially. There was definitely a reedit before the final cut was approved. This is quite a different film from that first cut. I will say that. It was more about me than it was about wine. That was not my intention. And that should not have been the intention of the film. The intention of the film is to help explain what is possible with effort and due diligence. And focus and commitment.

Enjoy Soundwave, Matt (or rather, I hope you are currently enjoying it, as you wrote this 6 hours ago, I just noticed.)

Hmmm…. ya think that Maynard is not actually the pretentious self-absorbed rock-star asshole he’s been portrayed as all these years? Maybe it’s all just been an act to keep the public at arm’s length, an attempt at self-preservation? Maybe a little of both? Only a select few know the truth… either way, he’s certainly a talented fucker, and I’m thankful for the art he makes and shares (or at least most of it).

Why do you say that?

it was selected because it pertained to MJK.  There’s nothing random about that.

@ Fleabird – Breathe. Let it go. It’s just semantics, and you’re point is…. pointless.

This conversation kind of reminds me of the Goodfellas scene.   “Funny how?  How am I funny to you?”

I would suggest that there was nothing random about selecting that quote

hellboy randomly selected a quote from a possible 15 answers in the MJK interview.

Is that so hard to understand?

What’d you go with for the selection, a 15 sided dice?

As one with an English degree I’m enjoying the semantic-ness of this thread.

I think this thread is the closest I’ve seen FourthEye get to old school TA. Both makes me nostalgic and…. not. 8`)

As one without an English degree, I’m enjoying your creation of the word “semantic-ness”.

I also would like to point out that choosing the fourth question in an interview to quote on a site called FourthEye is far from being random.

If we really want to get technical, nothing is random.  EVERYTHING is a result of cause and effect…

Yeah, you know, with an English degree I feel it’s totally appropriate, and a duty, for me to create new words whenever necessary.

People seem so keen to point out it’s not random, but are not so keen to point out why it’s not random.  Please tell me.

“Penis face, vagina mine” Now that is random.
