I thought this was worth a new post in case you skimmed that last one. Tool LA Dates are confirmed on Ticketmaster and go on sale tomorrow (4th June) at 10AM. Don’t miss out!
And now some editorial content if I may indulge you:
Personally, while this doesn’t effect me directly (aside from having to read shit load of negative comments on my website), I wake up today feeling pretty disappointed about how one of my favorite bands has handled this situation.  It’s hard to point fingers at anyone in particular, we don’t know who did and didn’t have information on this show – I’m the kind of person who likes to give people the benefit of the doubt, so if it wasn’t mentioned on Toolband, then I’m guessing that Blair legitimately didn’t have the heads up.
To give fans virtually no notice of the event through official channels is really disappointing and I understand why many readers here are pissed.  I know if I missed out on tickets to a show locally because I didn’t hear about the gig I’d be outraged as well.
I don’t know anything about the US ticket scene, except for the fact that Ticketmaster seem to dominate.  I do know that certain bands, including some that many consider to be Tool’s peers (NIN for example) have shown more initiative towards ticket sales and have gone to long lengths to help fans get to gigs.  That Tool aren’t going down this road as well is frustrating to me.  They may want to bury their heads and ignore certain aspects of the industry, but without bands like Tool and NIN leading the way in redefining the music industry, it will just end up going nowhere.  For a band with some strong views about politics and such, and who seem to encourage themes of discovery, pushing boundaries and change, it’s disappointing that when they are big enough to influence and change the music industry, they at least publically seem unwilling to do so.
I sincerely hope that last nights/this mornings fiasco was a one off and that it never happens again.
Three nights at the Nokia Theatre?! Holy crap!

I couldn’t sleep last night wondering if i was going to be able to get up this morning but i’m sitting at work now in front of the computer having breakfast and massaging my finger getting ready for the madness. Common 3/3
Ew, the Nokia Theater.
Thanks, TOOL, but I will wait patiently for better live venues after your new album comes out.
first row balcony dead center
Â
ooooooooooh yeah.
7th row, orchestra level on the left for wednesday!!!!! So stoked!
FUCK! yeah, good looking out with the heads up Blair…I just got on the laptop at 10:04 and not 1 available for any night… 🙁 FUCK!
Sunday “no longer exists in our database”…
WTF!? the shows aren’t even posted now…? Did you guys seriously get tix?
If you click on TOOL BAND the show pops up as a listing
Â
if you search for TOOL NOKIA it does not show up as search results
Â
all 3 shows sold out so just stop trying.
Â
Â
Fuck. I got nothing.
Already tickets up on Ebay for ridiculous prices.
I hope those assholes die horribly. Scumbags.

Â
I called it;Â cheaper to go to Sac than it is to buy LA tix.
Strangeness going on…ticketbastard has removed the shows from the listing of tour dates.
Can’t wait to hear Blair bullshit about how he couldn’t have helped any…
fuck this, I’ll just save my hard earned money instead of spending it on these fucks who have no respect for their fans
I don’t think this is the band. I think it is the promoters, venues, ticketbastard, etc. but if you insist on passing judgment w/out knowing all the facts, go ahead. At least that will leave tickets for the rest of us.
How could the band not know/allow their own tickets to be sold…?…but, of course they’ll come up with some “mistake” excuse…I’m just so sick of this shit…something always seems to happen with Tool…while the shitty bands actually give their fans presales and like, a couple days notice for tickets sales…
The answer is simply they don’t care. Anyone who wants to refute this comment needs to only look at NIN to see how much a band could possibly care AND how much control they have over their shows.
I was kicked out of the system in the middle of the purchasing, so sad about it. Dont know if these shows are for real? They are not listed on Tool’s news either tour page.
btw never been to the venue before, is it good? what seats are decent? the closer the better? the price is around $100 per ticket. If they did the same setlist (for 3 nights…) I dont think it worth it.
…exactly
.
and now that I’ve had another toke, I’m already feeling better about the situation 🙂
[quote comment=””]The answer is simply they don’t care. But last year Trent deliver way more than anyone could possibly be, been to 4 shows in 2009 and they worth evey cents. On the other hand, Tool gave me the same setlist in Phoenix and LA… Maybe Maynard really dont care. He just want to sell more wine and make money. After all… Read more »
NIN was not able to take control of his ticket sales until he was out of his contract. TooL is still under contract. I’m sure there are some clauses in regards to promoters and selling tickets via ticketbastard.
re:^^
Fine, see MUSE
Dedicated fan presale, dedicated fan presale BOOTH
Â
There, your theory is debunked.
And maybe MUSE had a better lawyer or the laws might be different in the UK.
…except I got the PRESALE tickets for a STAPLES CENTER show and they’re signed with Warner Music.
Finally, WRT the “maybe they have better lawyers” comment, that’s exactly what I mean.
Â
IF Tool wanted to, they COULD play hardball, get better agents, get better lawyers, get better publicity, etc;Â BUT, the simple fact is that we get < 24 hour notice for 3 shows and a ridiculous 50 ticket limit for each show.
Â
Â
What a fuckin’ joke. Â Scalpers must love TOOL, ’cause they’re making more off the concerts then the band does. Â What a great MO. Â Thanks a lot TOOL, for making it impossible to get tickets for your show, and for not fixing your shitty website. My asshole hurts from the fucking, so I must go now.
They’ve always hated their own hometown…
all this hating makes me long for the days of TA!!!!
Hey, last time I checked, the East Coast, much like Hellboy’s AUS, is getting the shit stick with no shows.

Its almost like he NEVER got the Pre-Sale code??!? poor fucker never had a chance!
I guess I’m just a big dummy because I can not find any confirmation for L.A. shows on Ticketmaster, Tool Army, Tool Band, the Nokia Center site, Craigslist……
Either yoos toool fans is funny or I is a dummy….
are we supposed to love being cash-raped continually?…
what’s the fuzz about? i don’t see any l.a. dates on ticketmaster! =(
ignorance is bliss…you’ll be happier if you don’t know…that is if you were planning to go to an L.A. show for under ~$150
Fuck…I totally missed this announcement. Guess I’ll have to be content with the 3 shows that I do have tickets for.
…what a dick 😉
The answer is simply they don’t care. Anyone who wants to refute this comment needs to only look at NIN to see how much a band could possibly care AND how much control they have over their shows. I agree completely with the statement. NIN was not able to take control of his ticket sales until he was out of his contract. I do not believe this to be correct. Nine Inch Nails was still under contract when The Spiral was active and running, even though The Spiral was somewhat of a cash cow like TOOLArmy currently is. The major… Read more »

So long as the shows are sold out I dont really think they care who is there… So long as they dont mosh, take pictures, talk and so on… Hang on they DO care who is there and they dont like people who dont ‘get’ Tool to be there?! Just dont wear a Tool T-shirt, MJK hates it… Gotta love em forget Oz come back to the UK!
Woo Hoo! Just got a call from a friend with an extra ticket for July 21st.
Hope something good happens for all those others out there that got kicked in the crotch this morning. : )

Meh, I’m not too worried. Like others I had no idea this even was going on until I came to the site mid-friday afternoon.
But no worries here, I’m sure I’ll be able to catch one show, at the very least, and probably will do so for a reasonable price, if not for the actual ticket price.
Good luck, sir. I think I’ll just try for the last night just in case it’s REALLY their last…
Finding cheap tix however…I’m not as optimistic as you.
I don’t get this?? Nothing was listed on ticketmaster when I had been checking. Same for Nokia. And nothing is posted now? I don’t get it? Starting to think that they just give all the tickets right to the scalpers and none really for anyone else. This doesn’t make sense to me. WTF. I am sooo fed up this this type of stuff. It is always something with this band.
