According to the website Antimusic, folk rock band Wovenhand will be supporting Tool on some of the dates for the coming tour:
- June 19th – New Orleans, LA – UNO Arena
- June 20th – Houston, TX – Toyota Center
- June 22nd – Cedar Park, TX – Cedar Park Center
- June 23rd – Oklahoma City, OK – Ford Arena
- June 25th – Kansas City, MO – Spirit Center
- June 26th – St. Charles, MO – Family Arena
- June 28th – Denver, CO – Red Rocks
I took a listen to their stuff on youtube, and it’s not really my thing. I wonder who else will be supporting this tour…
Lol. That is an extremely random choice. I’m actually a fan but it’s a very odd desicion. If anyone has heard of 16 Horsepower, Woven Hand is the newest band of their singer, David Eugene Edwards. It’s basically Alt-Country
I guess Wovenhand won’t be opening for them at my show. Wonder if there will be another supporting act for the other half of the summer tour?
I never heard of these guys before, so I go to check them out since I’ll be at the OKC show. These guys are pretty awesome.

Check out this song called “Consecration”….pretty awesome, can’t wait to be there live.
Boy, too bad Mastadon is on that tour with AIC and Deftones this summer. Would have love to see them open up again!!
I checked out a song on their myspace and I dig it

Hey! Think I’ll join you in said parking lot for drinks…… HOLY SUCK BATMAN! But whatever, to each their own… And Hellboy, thanks a bunch for keeping us all updated on everything during the “darkages” of TA! You rock my friend!
BOWSHIT!!! I hope to hell they don’t play up here……..shit!!

This supporting act makes me a sad panda. Surprised that Tool even got an opening act with the tour unfolding this late in the summer music scene. Not surprised to see that this is a hippie, feel good, folk music group that isnt very popular (by YouTube standards) Oh well…. Side note: Anyone been to a concert at the Cedar Park venue before? I just got this sweet ass HD camcorder with good audio pickup and I was wondering how tight the security was at this particular venue? Full Body metal detectors, or just a wand, etc… thanks for your… Read more »

Personally I’d encourage all Tool fans going to one of the shows to give them a chance. Â I’m not blown away by what I hear on Youtube either, but Tool generally choose their support acts for a reason, and I know I personally quite often leave with a different impression of a band after I’ve seen them live.
Worst case scenario: You see a couple of their songs, decide it really is crap and then head back to the bar for a few beers.

I went and saw Woven Hand recently, and it was great as 16HP was. It’s not really folk but I’d say rock with a taste of country.
For me, people will be lucky to be in such a show with two intense bands.

Tractor music huh!!!
Wow. Wovenhand actually sounds really awesome. I think this is a fantastic choice! Too bad I will not be going to a show on this tour…….
I love what I’m hearing…
Â
Epic, dark, folk…fucking sick! I won’t miss this opening band!
if they are going to pick some country shit, why not go for broke and get the rebel himself HANK III!?!?!? nevermind, I think hes on tour in canada.
I think Tool should have gone with the devil himself, Charlie Daniels. He play’s a mean fiddle!
pee……Â you.
I sure hope red rocks has areas where I can get my smoke on while this band is playing their unique brand of “bore-rock”.
normally t00l brings exciting opening bands….. tricky, masto, big business, etc…
Â
but this one makes sleepy!

I actually kinda like Wovenhand. Never heard them before but a couple of the tracks on their MySpace page are really cool. I hear a little bit of alt country but its more like dark experimental rock with native american influences. Its unique for sure.
I thought they sounded like a pretty good match for Tool. Never realised they were christian rock tho! Maybe MJK has had another think about his mothers belief and is seeing the light in his old age… Or maybe Justin just wanted to bring along some Dutch fellas to get drunk with!
Only playing the 1st night at Red Rocks. Wonder who is opening the 2nd show? That’s the night the Melvins are in Denver. Wonder if they can open RR and make it to the city for their own gig.
New newsletter… I feel very encouraged! I would much rather hear polished up old tunes than “not ready” new tunes!
