Justin talks about the new album

Si emailed me today an interview that Justin has done recently with the New Zealand Herald. The article itself is in regards to their appearance on the Big Day Out Festival, but Justin drops several hints about the new album:

“But we all come up with stuff on our own, and probably for the first six months we just share our ideas with each other, spending hours dithering around. So it really is a big kind of jam session.”

And all he can say about the new album, which might be ready by the end of next year (“You’ll have to be patient”), is that “it’s going to be exceptional”.

More fluff in that article than actual content, but well worth a read…

I’ve gotta say, that’s probably the most satisfying and re-assuring interviews to come about in a while. If it’s the end of next year, then it’s the end of next year. That’s cool. As long as the vibe and motivation is still there for all of them to create, i’m sure the wait will be well worth it.

Random seeing an interview in the Herald of all places. Yeah I agree with Elusiv, it is just nice hear it from the horse’s mouth. A year is a long time, but it will be worth the wait I’m sure.
I have been a fan of this band for a long time now, seen them live 8 times (with this year’s shows being the best) and will keep following them around for many more years but the one thing which frustrates me is the 5 years between albums. Aenima 96, Lateralus 01, 10000 Days 06 and now the new album in late 2011? I will remember Justin’s ‘exceptional’… Read more »
Frustrating perhaps.  But as long as the albums they put out continue to be as good then I’ll deal with it.  No point messing with a winning formula in my opinion.
^Hellboy you are so damn fast! I posted that at 10:56pm and you respond by 10:58pm – it’s like you run the website or something. Wow! Seriously though, I agree with you. I have loved Aenima, Lateralus and 10,000 Days because they are all different from each other, they go for over 75 minutes, their supporting tours have been awesome and the list goes on. I… Read more »

J. Chancellor – “Music is never going to die but it certainly feels like it’s going through a stagnant period where it’s getting squashed, processed, and watered down.”

lol, i couldnt agree more, once this tool album is dropped its going to kick the shit out of any corporate band w/ an over inflated ego, and take them down a peg or two. makes me smile when the non mainstream is #1 on the billboards top 100.

here’s to the next level…

It certainly feels like that everytime I listen to 10K Days. I have my fingers crossed for this new one.

So that might mean they’ll be on a world tour with it…say…December 2012. Hope they get the UK dates in first 🙂
