The Big Day Out for 2011 have been announced and Tool are officially headlining the Big Day Out in 2011! Other acts include Rammstein, Deftones, Grinderman, Iggy & The Stooges, Andrew WK and more. Hopefully some more details will be available soon!

Update: The Big Day Out dates are as below:
- Friday 21st January – Auckland, New Zealand
- Sunday 23rd January – Parklands, Gold Coast (tickets on sale October 7th with ticketmaster )
- Wednesday 26th January – Showground, Sydney (tickets on sale October 6th with ticketmaster)
- Sunday 30th January – Flemington Racecourse, Melbourne (on sale 8th October with ticketmaster)
- Friday 4th February – Showground, Adelaide (on sale 8th October with ticketmaster )
- Sunday 6th February – Claremont Showground, Perth (on sale 8th October with tickmaster)
No word on side shows, though I’d be betting we’ll get some details from Blair or the Big Day Out promoters soonish. Going on the 2007 tour you can presume there will be one each in Sydney and Melbourne, and probably nowhere else.

I was told in August, but wasn’t 100% sure how good the source was (though I had no reason to doubt it) hence me keeping it reasonably quiet.
I wonder if APC will make their way over there one day… Also if Tool

Not sure regulations are the problem, as Rammstein are playing a one off show at Madison Square Gardens later this year.
When Tool play BDO last time it was awesome, lots of Tool fans all over the place!
Hellboy, what do you think our chances are of some sideshows for Tool or Rammstein? Tool may not bother themselves with doing the sideshows, it could just be a ‘shake off the dust’ tour like APC is doing, by doing just a festival run. The only thing that makes me think we may get sideshows is the fact that they’re bringing the full light show – which probably wouldn’t be cost effective unless they do sideshows as well. I personallly am not confident in Rammstein sideshows because they usually require those open-air venues, which we don’t really have unless you go to stadiums… Read more »

BDO tickets aren’t too hard to get. Â Just make sure you’re online/at a box office when the go on sale.
My plan of attack so far is get Adelaide BDO tickets, then a sideshow ticket, and if the budget allows a ticket to the BDO in whichever town I happen to catch the sideshow at.
