Big Day Out timetables released

The timetables for the 2011 Big Day Out has been released, and it looks like Tool are only getting 75 minutes this year, unlike 90 minutes that headliners get in previous years.  Not sure what’s up with that, but I imagine there’s plenty of disappointed Tool fans out there.

Hopefully the sideshows many of us are going to have no such restriction…

Are the other headliners getting 75 minutes as well? Are there any more bands this year than last that could’ve caused a shift or something?

Im glad I held out for the sideshow really, Grinderman playing at the same time as TooL is really gonna cheese of a few of my mates… Lucky I saw them play 1 1/2 hours at Roskilde on their first tour. As for all the rest, meh, the money I saved by not going has allowed me to buy tickets to stuff I really want to see. I’ve got a busy few months ahead of me.

You can all shuffle over to see MIA play after Tool finish up… i know you love her.

Also, Sponsored by Tooheys Extra Shite, Smirnoff Vodka and Jim Beam… I wonder if there will be any variety this year?

Maybe the 75 minutes is because they aren’t touring on the back of a new album? I know Tool could easily fill 90 minutes with whatever they wanted and we’d all still be happy but the lack of a new record might have something to do with their reduced playing time, especially since they already did the BDO thing 4 years ago in support of 10,000 Days etc.

It’s all about the sideshows baby! Brace yourselves – they will be sick… fully sick!

This time i think ill stay sober… not that getting pissed is really an option when you’ve got a buying limit of 4 and they’re all opened AND you cant get out of the drinking area!

but Queens are so much better when you’re… something else.

wow not long to go now! Shame about the shorter set time, I’m sure there are tons of fans who only managed BDO tickets, gutted. You always know it will still be a great performance.

I hope they make it to one of the festivals in the UK next year. I see Sonisphere, have just announced the big four will be playing, and Download has System. Tool at either of these would make it one hell of a festival. Do we have any news on any tours post BDO next year?

People should probably be more grateful that they’re even getting to see Tool perform live at all, no matter how long the show is. The last show I was at was probably about that long and was worth two of every penny I put into the journey to get there. Have fun at the shows luckians!!

This sucks balls as a NZ TOOL fan who doesn’t get the opportunity of any sideshows. (can’t afford to fly to aussie).
15 mins less means 1-2 less songs…an epic version of lateralus, or EBA/The Patient being scratched off the setlist.
Hopefully they have a special surprise for the NZ fans like last time – Serj from System of a Down’s eastern hailings on Sober.

SAID THE SAME, BUT AT THE TIME TIX WERE ON SALE, THERE WAS NO GUARANTEED WORD ON ANY SIDESHOWS… MOST CITIES DIDN’T GET SIDESHOWS (LUCKILY, MELB. DID) AND FEST TOOL IS BETTER THAN NO TOOL SINCE I’VE NOT SEEN THEM SINCE NORTHERN SUMMER 07

Tool come on just after 9pm and finish just shy of 11pm. Same as when I saw them in the States this year. They always say 1 hour 45 minutes at the venue etc. In conclusion, the sideshows will be FULL… Read more »

Another TA legend (in his own mind) finally shows up. What’s up P.P.? Aren’t you an Aussie? Still too far? I know it’s a big continent.

Anyway, nice to see you show up.
