Tool in Reverb, Danny chats to Rynne

I read a post on the Big Day Out site directing us to an interview with Reverb, a local Australian magazine with Danny & Adam about the upcoming tour. It’s quite interesting and worth a quick read. Check it out here.

Also in the news is that Danny will be appearing on the Children of Saturn radio show, conveniently hosted by Rynne. According to Blair‘s Toolband post:

DANNY will be the guest on the “CHILDREN OF SATURN” internet radio show (hosted by Rynne Stump) on MONDAY NIGHT, DECEMBER 20 (6-8 PM, PST). For two hours he will be playing his favorite music and talking about the artists involved. Perhaps he will even talk a bit about his own bands, including the one called “TOOL.”

Tune in but don’t tune out!

No journalist will ever understand Tool unless they are a fan themselves. Tool aren’t fake and they don’t kiss the reporter’s ass. The reporter assumes they are unfriendly and prickly. Then they tell their audience that they are unfriendly and don’t like doing interviews. Maybe they don’t like interviews much, but they REALLY don’t like dumb ass questions. Anytime a reporter asks interesting and intelligent questions they can be very friendly and candid.

@ Chris – Thanks Yes, ELP, Crimson, Zappa, Jethro Tull, Return To Forever, Japan This is my kind of music! I grew up with it and still love and listen to it. It’s so cool to hear DC talking about this (music nerd, indeed). I sure hope he does come back and do this several times as he mentioned. He and Rynne make a great team. Bill Bruford, Alan White, Tony Williams, Lenny White, Terry Bozzio, Vinnie Collaiuta, Trilok Gurtu, Barriemore Barlow, Billy Cobham I have heard a lot of those influences, and more, in Danny’s playing over the years,… Read more »

admin – 25 minutes ago  »  He’s played some King Crimson, Captain Beefheart and Killing Joke, as well as some stuff I don’t recognise. Some German industrial I haven’t heard of. About to finish now, apparently Blair will be on the 10th of January on the same show to talk about UFOs, and Danny will come back and play some more tunes at a later date. Woah, what a treat. Missed and/or didn’t recognize some of the playlist as well. Hopefully Rynne’s Blog will reveal the ***cos #6 playlist***. Listeners and especially the “Drummer Brethren” were treated to some of… Read more »

But I sit you not, alot of that shit is regulalry spinning in my wee li’l brain… I just wish you’d stop pushing the likes of neil diamond, kenny rogers, bare naked ladies, natalie merchant, brooks & dunn and ABBA on everybody with so much devotion, is… Read more »

So, did Danny mention anything note worthy?

Naattik

admin – 1 hour ago  »  So, did Danny mention anything note worthy? From what I heard he didn’t really talk about Tool much at all – he really just talked about the music he played and how it influenced him. Also, it turns out Rynne is pronounced like wine rather than bin. Yup. I got schooled on that straight from the lady herself. I called her “Rin”, and she just (very nicely) corrected me by saying it back the correct way. But I think she pronounced it more like Ryan than Wine. Did she say it on the show?… Read more »

I’ve always pronounced it like the river…”rhine” like a rhino, the animal not that it matters…except for them…or something….

The only Tool info Danny gave away was that ‘The Grudge’ took six months to write.

If for some reason they started playing The Grudge again live, whoever is infront of me at the concert is gonna end up with a big splotch of spooge on their back when that song starts up.

As for kittaan, I don’t think you’ve “really” been to a Tool show until you leave said with a giant glob of man-goo all over the back of your tshirt.

I have a feeing we will get something special at the Hawaii show. It may be only one song but thats enough for me as long as Intolerance and The Patient are involved. I wouldn’t be disapointed if we didn’t get third eye after hearing the 2010 bootlegs of that show as long as third eye is replaced with one or two songs not played in the last six years.

markuspoop

Don’t sleep on 3rd Eye.

Seriously, 3rd Eye was worth the price of admission alone.

I’d like to see the song don’t get me wrong but if they opened with another surprise I would be equally as thrilled.

I saw third eye last tour. Let me say, it was the best song of the night, and the opener. I really dont need to hear vicarious every show. I definitely want at least a new song or two that deviates from the regular. We will see? Either way, its going to be epic in Hawaii.
