Tool Practise Clips

Maynard has posted a couple of Tool rehearsal clips similar to the ones he did recently for A Perfect Circle.  It shows the band playing sections of Lateralus and EBA/The Patient.  They are embedded below for your viewing pleasure!

Lateralus
EBA & The Patient

It’s also worth noting that the Notes From The Crew section on Toolarmy has been updated.

Update: And here’s clip 3!

Awesome, thanks for the heads up on the videos. It’s good to see footage of Tool practicing. Wish I could get to see them this tour, but I am half a world away… ah well, I will live vicariously through youtube.

gee… thanks for updating the notes from the crew section. cool videos though, sounds like they’ll stick with same setlist as last summer.

Hoping for a tease of some other older songs but it looks like it will be a fairly standard setlist. No complaints though, it will be great!

I hope not the exact same set list. If they are going to throw in a different song or two i dont believe they would ruin it for us by showing us a video of it ahead of time. we will see. Hawaii here i come.

Its going to be awesome I can hardly wait!
I bet we get one new old song, I’m holding my breath for Opiate. When they played it in 2006 if you closed your eyes you could have sworn it was 1992 again.

6 full days!
It has finally hit me that Tool is actually coming.
My buddy bought some video camera glasses he is going to use to record the show, they don’t record audio but we will sync up with an aud source when it surfaces.

You will not be disappointed with the same setlist they did for summer 10. Seeing the opening of Third Eye was beyond describable. Seeing it on youtube nowhere compares to seeing it live. So you are all in for a treat no matter what.

It’s worth noting that Maynard’s camera flashes past Adam’s guitar stand during the second clip showing his natural finish (pretty sure) Les Paul which he used to play The Pot in the altered key this past summer in the states. Since he has the guitar there during rehearsal, perhaps they are planning to bring out The Pot as well.

It’s right at :42 just after he’s done looking at “Franks Restaurant”

I never thought i would say this considering I have seen this song live twice but after hearing the tuned down version I would be happy with the pot as a ‘treat’ spng. Come to think of it I would be thrilled to hear them to do the same setlist from L.A. 2010. Cant f-ing wait!!

Nice clips. Reminds me kinda of that one little video from their loft, where that one guy has that smug-ass smile on his face.

I remember that vid, always wished there were more of those out there, and I wouldnt mind hearing the pot seeing as thats the only song i have yet to see live from 10k days.

Justin has short hair?! I’m really confused as to why Maynard would reveal the setlist like that…not sure I like that. My guess is the short one is for BDO and the long one for the sideshows? Still exciting, but WHY? Slightly disappointing..

Having been to as many shows as I have, I’ve never gone in being excited about the “mystery” of the set-list. I pretty much always went in knowing, or having a very good idea, as to what was going to be played. If I got a surprise, great, if not, still great.… Read more »

Don’t read too much into those 2 pieces of paper.
I would consider that to be a “list of possible songs” more than a “setlist”. The order and contents of those sheets has changed every day, and has changed at least twice since that video was made.

Naattik

I would take it with a grain of salt. Remember, it’s Maynard. My best guess is that they’re running through the list on the left, and they may or may not pull from it. I just wish I was able to hit any of these shows to see for myself. You lucky SOBs.

Here’s a little collage of screen shots:

But this might be easier to read:

Maybe the songs with the asterisk next to it can provide some sort of clue in solving this mystery.

Or we could just call up Encyclopedia Brown and put him on the case.

my guess is two set lists for festivals and one off shows. *shrugs* that would suck though for those at the festivals.

i would be willing to bet the one on the right is big day out (hence why no third eye) – then they change around for solo gigs.

The festival date looks lie the set will be:
Stinkfist
Third eye
46&2
Jambi
Schism
Rosetta stoned
Sober
Laturalus
Vicarious
Aenema

Thats pretty good set for a festival date and the side show set looks even better.
This is going to be spectacular!

I was watching my Coachella dvd last night in anticipation for the show and while listening to ‘you lied’ I thought how great it would be to see again.
I’m not sure he could hit that long note at the end like he did in 1998 but I’m sure he could pull off something pretty close to it.
You lied=Best closer evah.
