Maynard discusses wine, Adam Jones Metallica poster

Maynard spoke with the guys on Australia’s Wine Week in Melbourne the other day, and in part 1 of this interview he chats about a range of wine related topics:

Maynard speaks with Wine Week

Adam provided the artwork for one of the posters in the current issue of Guitar World.  Tim was kind enough to take a photo of it for us:

Looks pretty cool to me – if I see it in the newsagent I think I’ll grab a copy!

My Tool trek has finished for now – only one more show left, tomorrow night at the Perth Big Day Out.  Western Australian’s don’t miss out on this amazing show!

Sounds like the guy in the light shirt is about to piss his pants while talking to Maynard haha, I’d be pretty nervous too though i suppose.

I didn’t realise how obsessed I was with this man until I cracked a hard-on when he mentioned the “Adelaide Hills”.

LOL…I think we all out-lame ourselves sometimes when it comes to this band.

Adam’s buddies with Kirk Hammett. And what’s with all the Metallica hate? Yeah…their new stuff sucks but they released some awesome stuff in the 80s. At least they’re not Megadeth.

“Master of Puppets” is one of the greatest rock/metal albums ever recorded…in the top three easy. bottom line. “Ride the Lightning” is very, very good also, as is “Kill’em All”. The biggest reason for the quality of these three records is one Cliff Burton..thats the exact reason every other record of theirs (including “Justice” (which is ultimately leftover riffs from “Puppets”) BLOWS. The only reason the Black Album, Load and all the rest of them even exist, is because they rose to fame on the power of the first 3 records..had they made the latter albums first, none of us would… Read more »

A bit understated indeed…he wore the Jean Jacket and all!…it was freaking classic especially in hindsight….Cliff Burton just rocked his instrument; he could have played a freakin’ clavas and rocked the shit out of that too, imho…

admin – 9 minutes ago  »  Not a massive Metallica fan personally. I quite like And Justice For All, Master of Puppets and to a lesser extend the Black album. Anything older and newer than that tend to be a bit hit and miss to me. Never seen what the big deal with Cliff is, he seems like a good bass player and all but I’m not sure what makes him special aside from the fact he’s dead. Cliff, as even admitted by Hetfield, was the one who taught him music theory. Most of their best music was pretty technical..and… Read more »

So nobody managed to interview Tool throughout the whole NZ/Aus tour spanning some 16 days?

There were a couple on the Triple J radio station. I think I posted about at least one of those.
Personally I tried to get an interview but they never got back to me, despite being told they would put me on the list.
If there have been interviews with the local press, then could potentially take weeks to come out, depending on the publication.

True, forgot about the Triple J ones! Hopefully there’s a few more yet to be released like you say, maybe even some video..

can anyone tell me how much Maynard paid for that bottle of Grange (spelling?)
this is the second or 3rd time it has been brought up in an interview, just curious what exactly he purchased, for how much, and why its such a big deal?

We were at the bookstore on Sunday and they already had it out for sale.  I must say the poster is bad ass.  I wish Adam would spend that much time on the TooL posters.

Having toured Europe in 1950, Schubert implemented wine-making techniques observed in Bordeaux upon his return, aiming to create a red wine able to rival the finest Bordeaux wines both in terms of quality and ageing… Read more »

So, i know maynard is a lyricist, but is he the sole lyricist in the band? Do the others contribute at all to the writing of lyrics? I have been wondering.

Intension – 47 minutes ago  »  So, i know maynard is a lyricist, but is he the sole lyricist in the band? Do the others contribute at all to the writing of lyrics? I have been wondering. MY UNDERSTANDING IS THAT THE LYRICS ARE ALL MJK’S… THEY COMPOSE/WRITE ALL THE MUSIC AND HIS PLACE IS TO COME IN AT THE END AND ADD ALL VOX/MELODIES… GOOD EXAMPLE IS 10K DAYS 1 & 2 – I RECALL ADAM’S SAYING IT’S THE BEST THING HE’S EVER WRITTEN AND MAYNARD “NAILED” THE LYRICS. I BELIEVE IT’S A SIMILAR PROCESS FOR THE APC STUFF,… Read more »

SOMETIMES CAPSLOCK IS STEALTH LIKE A NINJA… A BLACK CAT IN THE NIGHT… LIKE BATMAN… ALWAYS ON SOME NOW YOU SEE ME, NOW YOU DON’T TYPE SHIT… THE COPY/PASTE THIRD EYE OF FOURTH EYE!

As opposed to Batman, wouldn’t a black cat in the night be Catwoman?
