Children of Saturn is a radio show run by Rynne (Danny’s girlfriend) every Monday night (US time) or Tuesday morning (11am AEST) and features a range of special guests and cool tunes. This weeks show, which starts in a couple of hours features Evil Joe Barresi, who you may recall worked with Tool on 10,000 Days.
While I have no idea what he’s going to talk about tonight, there’s a good chance he might talk about his experiences with our favorite band, and perhaps field a few questions from the chat room. That and play some kick ass songs! Details on the radio stream and access to the official chat room can be found here.
If he’s working with Tool, someone should ask him how far along the record is…
For those of us unable to listen at this time are these shows podcast or are they available to listen to somewhere after the fact?

Okay, just had it in my bookmarks. haha
Was there any Tool news/ hints if he was working on the new album?
nope
I guess just the fact that he was on the show is kindof a hint… he must be pretty in with the tool guys at the moment to be doing random talk shows with danny’s GF
I guess just the fact that he was on the show is kindof a hint… he must be pretty in with the tool guys at the moment to be doing random talk shows with danny’s GF
Joe gets mentioned quite frequently on Toolband by Blair, so I suspect he is good friends with Tool following the work on 10,000 Days. Also I heard that he has, or will be recording the Volto! album. It would come as no surprise to me if he’s involved with the new Tool album, though as already pointed out there really wasn’t any discussion of Tool… Read more »
With all this speculation, we are making a huge assumption that Tool has picked someone… I suppose that if the band is planning a 2012 release, that decision may have not been made yet.
Well it depends a bit I suppose. If Tool have booked studio time, and I’d guess they would be close to doing this, especially if Blair is throwing around dates (serious or otherwise), then they would want to have an idea of who is available at the time. Given that Joe, Bottril or any other range of engineers/producers are in demand, you’d want to “book”… Read more »
I’m sure they’ll be in the studio in the fall, and by then we’ll begin to have a much better idea what is going on. I have a great feeling about the new material.
Seems like they are really focusing on doing something great.
As long as Tool stays true to the alchemy of the band, they can’t really screw up too much.

Doesn’t Maynard have a studio in his home?

Depends on how you define the term studio. It wouldn’t surprise me if all the members have a “studio” of sorts, but it would surprise me if any of them were good enough that Tool would record and album in them.
Yeah, I’m sure they all have their own ways to record music. Nowadays almost anyone can record demos pretty easily. For a band like them, I think its beneficial for them to hand over engineering duties to someone so they can focus on the music and performances.
