Had an email across my desk today from Joe who points me towards Youtube user 25Bayor who posted a range of videos claiming to be Tapeworm cuts. A couple of tracks appear to have singers that sound like Trent Reznor and Marilyn Manson, though none I’ve heard sound like Maynard at all (except a live version of Passive that I’m presuming is APC).
Are these the real deal? I’m not entirely convinced. None of them are particularly compelling tracks, though Reznor himself hinted in the past that they weren’t good enough for a general release. Anyway, why don’t you all take a listen and let me know your thoughts…
Nope, not Tapeworm.

You’re saying that because you know, or don’t think it is?

Not particular Joe that I know of!
Who knows? Personally I doubt it and certainly wouldn’t rush out to buy that track. Probably just one very long running gag.
nah, I seriously doubt it. that Warlock track on youtube is actually a Song by Skinny Puppy – Worlock (Rhys Fulber Remix / eye of the Beholder Remix)
I would’ve loved to hear some of what Tapeworm produced. You be the judge..

The vocals dont sound like Trent Reznor to me. And the fact that there is no Maynard to be heard on any of the tracks…. 99% sure they arent tapeworm

The vocals are from the same person with two different effects.
I am 100% positive that Fiest was looping before a show in chicago. 2006 mini tour.
that sure as hell sounds like Trent to me….I’d be surprised and impressed if it wasn’t…
Didn’t passive go by another name when it was originally done by tapeworm
Vacant
Passive was originally titled “Vacant”. None of these are Tapeworm tracks. These tracks have been floating around falsely as Tapeworm tracks for years. Skinny Puppy remix,Ohgre stuff & some obscure simpleton industrial shit with HORRIBLE production. Come on people. I know Trent said tapeworm wasn’t up to par but were talkin T.Reznor MJK par,not this garbage. The only track with Reznoresque production would be the cover of Gary Numans “Down in the Park” because he did produce it.It is a Marilyn Manson B-side.That one actually has Manson vocals because it is a Manson release on Nothing Records. Also, when was Manson a part… Read more »
Yeah thats it I was just in the process of ripping my old hard drive apart to find the mp3. Good Shit I still want to find it to listen to it again, if I am not mistaken I think I have a live version of it.
Allegedly done. But who really knows? Trust no one.
i have that live version of passive when it was vacant….it’s hollow sounding and nothing like the studio version which may or may not have been in the movie constantine–ok, it was in the movie…which was an ok movie although whatsername should have gotten naked in the tub
Oh it was done and recorded by someone then it was leaked onto the interweb about 6-7 years ago, I am trying to find it on my old CPU but it crashed hard a few years ago. Not working out well for me, can’t open any programs!
Nice cheese!! I haven’t heard it in years but I do remember hearing it before Passive came out and I really liked it! Thought it was live, basically the same song with a few different lyrics if I recall correctly.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!! 😉
That doesnt sound anything like Trent.
this isn’t tapeworm, those are songs by various artists (some by marylin manson, Skinny Pppy, some Trent stuff, etc) that were on p2p networks mislabeled as tapeworm. I’m so curious about actual tapeworm stuff and i really loved Vacant (the older version of passive which APC played live).
the closest we have is passive (Vacant), some of the beats and stuff used by trent on the Rise and Liberation of Niggy Tardust album by Saul Williams and maybe (unlikely though) some puscifer stuff and Danny Lohner stuff maybe used in the Underworld sountrack
The vocals don’t sound anything like Trent/Maynard, and (even though Taperworm admitted that the work was not “A” material) the music sounds very pedestrian.
I really doubt it. And Marilyn Manson never had anything to do with Tapeworm.
What the hell is Tapeworm?
you guys don’t think “Potions” (off “C” is for…) is a Tapeworm track? (T. Reznor was given writer’s credit)
i heard (not sure where) that MJK gave it to TRez as a wedding gift.
anyhoo, love all you guys ***looooong time lurker**** waddup kat & bill?!?!?
see you @ APC in the ATL!
I really doubt it. And Marilyn Manson never had anything to do with Tapeworm.
Exactly. It had that stigma where MM might (should?) have been involved with all those dark frontmen, but don’t think he had the talent to be included. The tracks are bogus. Repetitively amateurish. Same vox effects used throughout. The guy posting these has been misinformed. On the Passive/Vacant note, got to see APC in early 2001 and thought it was the highlight of the set. Prefer Vacant to Passive. Although when they performed it last year on Jimmy Kimmel and MJK changed lyrics to “Trent… Read more »
a project that maynard and trent reznor did, but never released it. watch the video there is a pic of them togather in the studio near the start of it. 😉
I hope for the sake of the project, its not…because from what i heard, it’s nothing great or even good!
@ north end Guinea & nicholas – Welcome to the fold. Please don’t be shy.

i can’t find any info on the Saul Williams tracks being ex-Tapeworm stuff. can you point out a source?
@ kittaan – thanks.
@ ilikecheese –
Zookeeper & Gorilla sitting on couch watching tv… Zookeeper w/ beer.
Zookeeper: “But the table is a bale of hay that you’re just going to eat later. I don’t need a coaster.”
Gorilla: “I SAID use a coaster.”
Zookeeper: “Okay.”
These f’in disappoint me.
Definitely has the right style for a MJK/TR project. Song hits so hard with a proper sound system.
I’m fairly sure the Slowdriver track is a VNV Nation song.
james iha picked up a gorilla once while stopped with the APC tour bus at a gas station rest stop…true story…he told it in concert once…
😛

Props to The Don (you’ve got a rapist wit bro! haha) I’ve always thought the first real “attack-y” guitar part from Potions sounds pretty similar to TR’s riff from “The Wretched” around the time he’s singing, “…who hopes and prays, for better days, though far away…” Could be more than a coincidence. Pointing to an unfinished Tapeworm track? (I think I read about MJK finishing the track as a wedding gift… Read more »
I’m pretty sure Maynard gave Trent a child for the wedding gift…sounds right to me…

+1
Totally late to the post, but yeah… there’s pretty much zero chance of Tapeworm leaking unless any of the guys involved post stuff. I don’t think anything on Niggy Tardust was from Tapeworm. Maaaaybe the drums on Convict Colony. Other than that, everyone else pretty much nailed it. Passive is a reinterpretation of Vacant, which was only heard live on the APC tour. Potions is a somewhat different take on a Tapeworm tune. Nothing else is ‘out there’ from the Tapeworm pile, as of this post. It’ll be interesting to see if other Tapeworm stuff surfaces on the new Puscifer… Read more »
