In a recent interview by Spin, Maynard talks about the forthcoming Puscifer album Conditions of My Parole:
The album features frequent Puscifer collaborators, including producer Mat Mitchell, Telefon Tel Aviv’s Josh Eustis, and British singer/songwriter Carina Rounds, plus newcomers including Jeff Friedl and Matt McJunkins from ASHES dIVIDE, L.A. songwriter Juliette Commagere, Bat for Lashes drummer Sarah Jones, and Jon Theodore, the former sticksman for Mars Volta. "He’s got some serious chops," says Maynard. "Working with different people opens up a whole new set of questions and puzzles and solutions.
The album should be released October 18th and will include a two month tour. Of Tool, Maynard mentions that รขโฌลWeรขโฌโขre writingรขโฌย.
Now that’s a badass photo.
I’m no musician or anything, but does that look like a fairly bare drum set to anyone else?
We’re writing?!?
That’s it??
Does this guy have ANY interest in Tool whatsoever anymore?
It seems as if recording a new Tool album is the LAST thing Maynard wants to do right now.
Things to do today.
1. Feed cat
2. Check up on wine business
3. Record new Puscifer
4. Go on tour with APC
5. Go on tour with Puscifer
6. Pick up dry cleaning
7. Write material for new Tool album
he’s only really missing a bass tom. look what brain can do w/ a 3 piece kit. ๐

Why do most people always assume it’s Maynard dragging his ass on any Tool stuff? Wasn’t it said in a recent interview that it’s the other guys taking their time?
it’s been said on many interviews that MJK needs projects to fill up his time cuz the other guys take so damn long.
I think the members of Tool are a whole load more relaxed about the songwriting process than many of their fans…
Seriously. You’d think everyone would be used to it by now.
Tool already has a well established fan base.
APC and, especially, Puscifer aren’t near that level. Makes sense he’d devote more energy to promoting them instead.
Damn. Sounds like they won’t be in the studio this year either.
I guess we’re looking 2013 at this speed.
Tool doesn’t revolve around mr mjk. sheesh! like badkitty said a bunch of times, he’s a workaholic, he likes to keep bizzzzzy. ๐
no way
shut yo mouf
this is great news! i’m happy
Its incredible how much some fans are able to extract from a two word sentence.
Awesome photo, and Iรขโฌโขm stoked to hear some new Puscifer material. From the looks of it the next album is a much more collaborative venture than the previous one was…
APC to me is practically irrelevent until they come out with new material.
*irrelevant. Especially since Freese isn’t making the rounds. Seems they have a sort of devotion to the political scene so perhaps they’re waiting for election year to get inspired. Loved the second album, but the first was just so casually epic.
Like Puscifer, doesn’t seem like APC has a seriousness anymore.

I agree. I’d go see them if they came to Oz but I find it hard to work up too much enthusiasm for them at the moment. I’m genuinely more excited to hear about Puscifer…
The fact that Maynard talked it up as the eMotive tour on Twitter the other day (not sure if joking) didn’t really help!
I think if he changed, “we’re writing” to “they’re writing” it would be more accurate.
amen
soundz interesting
Correct me if I’m wrong please… In the photo we have (Left to Right) Josh Eustis on keys, Johnny Polonsky on guitar, Carina Round, MJK, Matt McJunkins on bass, Jeff Friedl on drums & squatting on the floor Matt Mitchell on electronics?
LOVE ME SOME PUSCIFER!
edit: not sure about that being Friedl now… (he’s playing left & his hair is shorter)
Looks like Jon Theodore on drums.
“Man Overboard,” the first single from the album, will be available via iTunes and other digital service providers on July 19.
I hate Puscifer. There, I said it.
You ever see a live PussyFur show, Nate?
I am not a fan of most of the studio fare either, but it was damn good live.
You ever see a live PussyFur show, Nate? I am not a fan of most of the studio fare either, but it was damn good live.
Yup. Saw them on two tours, and they are evolving into something completely awesome. The second time around was one of the most entertaining concert experiences I have ever been to. They are really invested in their audience and their lack of seriousness plays well with me. We all know MJK is hilarious, but Puscifer really gives him the opportunity to shine. I love the part in the interview where they talk… Read more รยป
Exactly what I tell my buddies.
I’m anxious to know where they’ll be touring. Hopefully they wont just focus on any particular coast, as in the past. I’m in the south (Dallas, Texas) and my lady would love to see them. I’ve taken her to two Tool shows but she really doesnt care for them much.
going to watch puscifer is more like going to a comedic musical. a really, really loud musical.
Hate is such a strong word. Not really sure why people can’t get into it. Anything specific that seems to drive people away?
not only is the actual live show of Puscifer really amazing, but the wine is flowing nonstop! The setting is always intimate, and everyone is getting nice and liquored up. sometimes those fucking Puscifer shows give you no choice but to stand up and move…i love it
The show I was at was a sit down one (aren’t they all?). The ONLY two people standing up were directly in front of my girlfriend and I and dancing and yelling like drunken assholes.
I’d beg to disagree and say that Puscifer shows should all be taken in while sitting.
i like that there was no security in front of the stage just security off to the sides. when i had to hit the head i literally had to walk right in front of the stage. i leaned down and kept walking but, i was like 10 ft. away from maynard. good times. ๐
What? Some sort of dance or ritual?
^ term used for having to take a piss. ๐
I thought it was a masturbating reference. Show was just that good, eh?
Agreed.
To be fair though, some Puscifer songs are catchy as shit. DoZo live is amazing. Also, The Mission.
How badass is The Undertaker live? And when he screams.. holy shit!
That is Jeff Friedl, he’s a lefty.
I didn’t realise Carina Round was HOT AS HELL though haha
Does anyone else think it would be highly amusing to pull your penis out and start openly and vigorously masturbating front row at a puscifer show? I of course would wait until the last song so I didnt miss the show. I think it would he hilarious. Anyone with me? We could start a kicked out of puscifer for masturbating facebook page. Lady’s?
The Mission live is awesome. I’ve love to hear potions live.
It’s been said enough at this point that I feel I have to stand in line, but yes, A Puscifer concert is a DAMN fine way to spend and evening. Loved both shows I went to (cuntry show included, it was funny as hell).
I don’t think that’s Jon Theodore on the drums in the photo. From memory Jon’s a little more dark skinned than the guy in the photo.
Not sure what Jeff looks like (I’ve only ever seen him dressed as Borat) but I’d guess that’s him.
very loud and intense esp. from the 8th row. fuckin’ sweet is what it is. ๐

^ skeet skeet OH SHIT. LOL. ๐
But Maynard always tells us to take our pants off, I’m confused?!
The Undertaker Scream is SOOOOO Badass, it makes titties pop out!!!
& Yes Carina Round is a sweet little dish…
^^^ damn that is sexy
You are supposed to stand up at Puscifer shows. Maynard says so. Jackasses.
