Creative. Very.
Unfortunately that song is still just a little boring and the video doesn’t make up for it.
I’d have to agree, I really hope this one track doesn’t completely foreshadow the entire new album or I’d be pretty disappointed.
gotta say, not a huge fan of Puscifer musically, but I quite like the silly, creepy visual aesthetic going on in the videos, album art, interstitials etc.
V for Viagra was pretty awesome, he should only release remixes in my opinion. The electronic instrumentation seems to suit the Puscifer ‘vibe’ better than real instruments.
*yawn
I really like both the song and the video. Â Looking forward to the album!
Where are the guitar solos. This is not grunge rock. WHAT THE FUCK! I HATE THIS!
who knows how to enjoy a groove? not many other commenters.
Loops and electronic instruments does not a groove make.

Depends on your definition of grooveÂ
good video, i like it
I need more side-boob from Carina
It will all come together in the live show….
Music takes time to get familiar to really listen and understand the music and enjoy it more.
McDonalds makes some sort of breaded filet sandwich, but I wouldn’t go so far as to define it as fish.

I don’t understand – it’s either fish or it’s not?Â
FUCKING AWESOME!!! both the song & the visual interpretation…
(& are you kidding me about “electronica does not a groove make?”)
edit: i realize i just used “quotes” inappropriately but the jist was “quoted”…
That’s the stupidest thing I’ve heard this week, congratulations
To me it ain’t, but like you said it’s all on how one defines it.
i would not consider Mcyshits food. so i would say it’s not fish.

I’m more of a black & white guy personally. Â not sure why people feel the need to say make an excuse for why the don’t like something. Â Saying it’s not groovy just because you dislike it is saying the sky is green because you don’t like blue.Â
That’s because you are a fucking moron.

danny utilizes samples, pre-recorded drums, etc. in almost every song tool plays live… no?
The word in ‘itself.’
Quotes in quotes.
Tasty.
nate – 10 minutes ago » Not exactly. All I’m saying is to me pre recorded drums, guitar riffs, samples and such don’t make a grove. To me it takes the human element to complete the picture. Someone physically manipulating an instrument. Otherwise all you’re left with is lifeless souless crap. Imagine TOOL with a drum machine instead of Danny. What makes a blowjob great is the human element, otherwise you might as well stick your dick in a knothole. So does that apply to all electronic music, or just Puscifer? Is a keyboard an instrument> Are turntables an instrument?… Read more »
Yes, but he physically triggers each sound. He doesn’t just hit the play button.
it’s almost like a dream within a dream
@hellboy I’m only talking about prerecorded loops and sequencing, if that helps clarify where I draw the line.

He doesn’t just hit the play button. sorry to run up my post counts… i really was a lurker at some point, but: every sound you hear on any track is manipulated digitally after the performance. mat mitchell triggers every drum beat you hear, just like danny does… when you choose to swallow the blue/red pill, you’ll realize it’s all vital, it’s all shifted, the… Read more »
Hahahahaha Nate next time you should just do as HB suggests and say you hate the fucking song, the pack will come after you for sure but at least you won’t end up being held accountable for disparaging whole musical genres!
You should all go to the bicker thread and tell it how it really is. lol
haha…
after reading back, i realized i’ve just used the words Every, & Always way too much, but to call samples untoolish is ridiculous!
Whoa, slow down pal, maybe you need to go to a dance party and see all those people ‘grooving’ to loops and electronic instruments and get on stage and give them your opinion.
@north end Guinea You’re talking about quantizing, and no, not ever band does that in the studio. Some do, but that’s usually because one or all of the band members is inexperienced at recording to a click track and the engineer doesn’t have time to record hundreds of takes. As a recording engineer I’ve used quantizing as a time saving tool, as a drummer when recording with my own band I have never used it. TOOL certianly doesn’t rely on quantizing. Hell, they don’t even use a metronome.

Plenty of loops in Triad I expect
what about the triggered Mandala Pads right before the breakdown in Stinkfist?
…right before, “I’ll keep digging”
are those less valid than the accoustic tom hits? (cause they’re samples?)
& yes TOOL, you’re totally correct they don’t use a metronome, but once the drums are laid, those are the bible… everything is matched to that timeline!
it’s called post-production idiots, now shut up really….god damn…
how if that’s what I really typed, wouldn’t that be a trip?

Did you type that using a soulless keyboard, or on a fancy pad with a drumstick?Â
^Ahh, close sir. Fancy keyboard in the old drumstick style. Splendid!
^ That shit takes skill!
Pretty cool video. Shame about the music. Is it just me or is this actually the worst song Maynard has ever created? I’ve listened to it about 50 times now and it’s getting more boring every time… must be a very acquired taste
If you’ve listened to it 50 times im sorry to say you sir are a slow learner… I deemed it rubbish halfway through my first listen.
The video was far better than anything I could ever create, but as a music consumer it is bland, so bland its like staring at beige curtains boring.
Lolz.
lol @ listening to it 50 times if you don’t like it, stop say after the 5th.
Man, please tell me you don’t operate heavy machinery.
I listened to it casually and liked it after the 3rd (Which was today), the chorus could be stronger and more pronounced, but that’s my inner pop producer talking.
It just comes up in my latest playlist when I’m driving and I can’t be bothered to skip it. But hey maybe i am a slow learner, I had to listen to the Patient about 50 times before I realized it was my favourite tool song instead of my least favourite
Oh and I don’t operate heavy machinery but in a couple of years I will be operating on people 🙂
If that’s a fact maybe you have better things to do then waste your time arguing with me
@tool
Drum loops and sequenceing arent used because its easier, they are used for a certain effect… if there is no soul in it, its because no one put it there.
There is alot of soul, skill and originality in puscifer, try drinking more wine.
