Tool August 2011 Newsletter

Ok _________’s, Blair recently put out the August Tool Newsletter.  It’s reasonably short, and only really contains a couple of Tool snippets, the most important probably being:

(in regards to the new Tool album) Just when things were rolling along at the loft with the writing and arranging sessions (and what I’ve heard so far sounds truly great!)

And:

Also, things are looking good for the new Tool website… as soon as the new web-master returns from "Burning Man", which I fucking hope isn’t in ALASKA!..

So good news then.  My mail is that 6 songs are now pretty much ready, though I suspect that we won’t see Tool recording anything in 2011.

Well, this is good news. I just hope they can get into the studio in early 2012, after the Puscifer tour.

A nice fish too.

I would dig an Alaska trip.

Plus, after Puscifer gets off the road come the holidays-all members usually go do their own thing of which I’m sure we’ll see a picture of DC at his table smiling with a feast in front of him. They just need to e-mail all of us a fucking itinerary already so we know what’s up.

If only six songs are “done” after 18 months of writing….it’s not going to be a double.

Damn.

Although I wonder how many other unfinished songs are cookin’ in the ol’ oven?

LOL. Tool needs to email out an itinerary to all its fans. Preferrably in a calendar spreadsheet format that combines all their calendars and planners into one super calendar. It would show us the days in the studio with Tool, puscifer tour times, APC studio time, and each member’s personal shit listed out. I want to know EVERY minute of every day for the next year and a half of what they are doing. Is that so much to ask as a fan??? I imagine that this album will have 9 stongs. undertow has 10 tracks (im not going to… Read more »

An Excel spreadsheet of the bands budget in regards to a tour would be nice as well. And the more petty details the better like, “If Adam were a tree, what kind of tree would he be and would Maynard pee on that tree knowing it was Adam?”

we should just stop fucking around and ask for SSN’s, credit cards, and CVC’s

^Might as well; it’s all some people need to make their ‘transformation’ into a member of the band. 🙂

Nice, sounds like they’re probably on track to hit the studio in Jan/Feb/March. I guess between now and then its time for Maynard to get back in with them and do his thing

Yeah it is good to hear things are progressing…so what does this mean in terms of a release date? Or is it too early to really tell?

no bulshit on the photo. I was gonna say it doesn’t look like Alaska but he does have his hood up, and it’s in summer so yea, probably Alaska. that, and look at his hands, the big guloot. And we ALL know that two-hour-into-a-drop-buzzin’-like-a-maniac smile DC always has on his face…I swear the dude is trippin all the time, it’s hillarious.

I hope Blair knows that some of us truly do love and appreciate his continued trolling of the less favorable online contingent of Tool’s fanbase.
The album will get here when it gets here. In the meantime, please keep twisting the tits, Blair.

Just as long as while they’re in Alaska they don’t feel the need to live in an abandoned bus to try to discover themselves.

Lateralus has only 7 songs not including segues/interludes

The Grudge
EBA/The Patient are one song
Schism
Parabol/Parabola are one song
Ticks and Leeches
Lateralus
Disposition/Reflection/Triad are one song

10k days has even less songs…

Vicarious
Jambi
Wings for Marie/10kdays is one song
The Pot
LK/Rosetta is one song
Intension/Right in two are one song

so there are 6 total songs for 10k days not including segues/interludes

Aenima has only 9 songs not including segues/interludes

Stinkfist
Eulogy
H.
46 + 2
HWAP
Jimmy
Pushit
Aenima
Third Eye

I would expect maybe 11 or 12 tool tracks for the new album, with a reality of maybe 5 or 6 new songs maaaybe 7

how about one radio length song and one jam track on one “cd”. then on another “cd”. 2 to 4 epics.

 …one track album?

nah….

admin – 14 minutes ago  »  So I sent Blair an email just to see what’s up. Here’s the gist of the response: 6 songs completed is probably overstating it a bit. I read into that there is likely to be 6 “works in progress” but I don’t think anything is complete as such.Blair isn’t sure if Maynard has been involved yet, nothing he’s heard yet has vocals. That doesn’t mean there aren’t any, though it was suggested that there most likely will be soon. He gave me the impression that Maynard is very good at add vocals/lyrics, and then… Read more »

my bet would be that after this new TOOL album comes out w/ some touring. Maynard is done with TOOL and will focus on his wine and puscifer to help with funds. i really don’t see any more TOOL or APC. after TOOL’s new album as far as i know APC or TOOL do not have any more contractual obligations. i hope i’m wrong it’s just the way i see things going.

^ i did say there would be touring and i’m sure it will be a world tour. i don’t think Maynard has an attitude toward the band. i personally think there all kinda brothers.

There’s most likely around six songs being composed plus a bunch of stuff – stuff that will no doubt morph into three or four more tracks (hopefully).

Really puts it into perspective regarding how slow these guys work. I mean…six songs – 18 months of writing. That’s glacial, not just slow! Recording probably not before February ’12.

Still another year or so to wait. Hmmm…what’s coming out in the meantime?: Swans, Skinny Puppy, Soundgarden, Secret Chiefs 3 (maybe), Bjork, Mastodon, Sunn O))) (maybe), Throbbing Gristle, Fantomas (maybe but don’t hold yr breath)…

Not much.

Not much.

Are you just talking out your arse here?

They are the only band I have to see live each tour, more so than tool. For less tahn obvious reasons.
