I’ve been meaning to mention the last few days that Danny is this weeks guest on the Children of Saturn radio show hosted by Rynne. You can tune in via Radio 23. I can’t remember what time the show starts, but I’m pretty sure it’s sometime in the next hour!
Update: Bob has provided me with a link to a recording of the show: http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5F41080Z Thanks Bob!
There’s a thread for this, you ninny!

There is, but sometimes the blog needs a little love as well!Â
Just messin’ with ya.
starts at 8pm central time. Â
some free-jazz playin’ right now
I’m listening now but I’ll I’m catching is some more whacky jazz music. Did I miss it?
nope. you got it. this stuff is awesome
Has Danny said anything yet? Or does he just pick songs he wants to play? I’ve never listened to this radio show before.

I’m not listening due to being at work, but normally they play 3-4 songs and then have a chat.Â
He talks and has been talking but only about the music he picks. He made a quick mention of Volto! but nothing Tool related.
EDIT NEVER MIND MAY BE A SPOILER
He revealed one song they may be whipping out. Not sure if I should say here. Posted in spoiler thread.
Yob and Intronaut are opening.
Yob on the east, Intronaut on the west.
Nice ninja edit, yes that would count as a spoiler….
You may post in the appropriate spoiler thread though!
Who is that other opening band they mentioned? I have a feeling that the Dallas dates will be when they switch off openers.
How about someone ask him why they decided to tour rather than actually finish writing a new album?
Yob & Intronaut were the openers mentioned
Why does that even matter?
Uhhhh because in the two months they are going to waste on the road they could have finished an album, which would have given a realistic chance of a mid 2012 release rather than Spring 2025.
Haha I’m glad you could decipher that pronunciation (Yob) Hellboy. I hadn’t heard of them and I was looking up yaub.
Edit – Sorry that was your listening skills Polarbear15. Doesn’t really count when your listening to one of your own though. Danny really has quite the drawl.
You really think they’d be touring if they had new material to record? It’s not like they’re being forced to tour. If they wanted to write/record, they’d be doing it instead of touring. But they’re not. So even if they weren’t touring, they probably still wouldn’t be working on the record.
I hear yah dude…
I fuckin’ hate it when Tool get together and make music.
You need to listen to The Grudge or something Mog.

New material to finish writing. Think about this for a second. Tour lasts two months, then they go back in the studio and finish writing while nardo does more Pussyfer. It is then fucking summer 2012 before they MIGHT even starting recording. Why… Read more »
Have listened to it more times than I could possibly count. Really ready for some NEW Tool music.
Maybe they don’t have any ideas and they need a tour to get their juices flowing?

All your complaining won’t change a thing though. Â Tool haven’t really listened to fan’s requests for a while now, so I’m not sure why you think they might start.Â
You’re right Mog, Its so rude of them to do something other than what you want them to do…
How dare those bastards go and play some music to people, make tens of thousands of dollars a night, free drugs, free booze, groupies blowin’ em dawn to fuckin dusk. Maybe they’re planning to kill the fuckin’ audience? So they can sell shoes again.
Thin Lizzy playing, i have the right station right?
At this point it strikes me that perhaps they just don’t have anywhere near an album’s worth of arrangements/rough ideas.
It would seem that when they try to undertake the task of recording a new record, it comes about in its own good time.
This tour might be a way for them get things seriously moving in the direction of truly composing this new masterpiece.
Or they rock out for a month and go home to do whatever they’ve done since the 07 tours ended. I don’t really care as long as they are still together and doing SOMETHING.

Blah fucking blah. It’s unprofessional to say one thing and do another.

They will sell out a bunch of shows behind old material that most of us have seen live on a number of occasions, knowing that most of you will just nod and smile and buy merchandise while they dink around with new material. That’s fine. But not me dude. I have seen this dog and pony show one too many times. This isn’t about getting creative juices flowing. These are four… Read more »

I’m still trying to figure out who the fuck is “Nardo”.

Thanks for clearing that one up. I wasn’t going to be able to sleep.
Is the show over?

Look around you. Not much to be positive about.

I’ve got plenty to be positive about. Â I’ve got gigs in the calendar I’ll be attending. Â I listen to good new albums every week. Â Life is good.Â

Oh my god…the complaining… Tool is a band, they play live, they create albums when they feel like it…big deal.
If they did what all the fans wanted them to all the time…we wouldn’t like them! Why don’t people understand this? Tool doing whatever the fuck they want is respectable.Â
Â
Good new albums every week? We have massively different taste in music. I can count on one hand the number of good releases this year. Steven Wilson’s Grace for Drowning easily taking album of the year of course 😉

^ She’s back… spewing the same ‘ol same ‘ol…
And happier than ever it seems…
No, it’s your schedule, I’m sure they’re quite happy with theirs. Â One of them mentioning they won’t tour again until an album is out doesn’t equate to some kind of binding contract.
Good point. Danny really never gets much of a say so, even though he is 75% of what makes Tool so great.
I thought something Ian MacKaye of Fugazi said recently when interviewed by the BBC about the new Fugazi Live Series was interesting and relevant here…
“Fugazi always thought the records are the menus and the shows were the meals. Give people an indication of what you’re getting on about, then when they see it live, they understand what dimensions can occur. The music industry has it all turned around. Everything is promoting ‘the album’ as if the album was the whole point”Â

consider this: During a month of touring, ALL FOUR BAND MEMBERS WILL BE TOGETHER, with lots of down time and great big stages containing their equipment, as well as state-of-the-art sound systems (The geniuses!). Not to mention crack security personnel. During the sound checks, once they’ve dialed in the mix for a couple of the songs on the set list for that evening, there should be a sufficient amount of time left to work on NEW MUSIC (that is – music for the next record). So, it’s a win-win situation – at least that’s how I see it… –blair
