Interesting stuff…

But a related question. I haven’t been in this Tool online community for very long. Who is this Blair guy? What does he do, just run the website?

He doesn’t inform us of anything, really.

He preoccupies our time in hope that we don’t think about the next album…

Another shit newsletter. I hate Blair’s esoteric rambling bullshit. However, the Tool news update rocks. Evil Joe in the studio now. Sounds like things are moving along really well at this point. I have a feeling this is going to be the last Tool album, and I sincerely hope I get to see them in concert again at least one more time.

I also really hope this album doesn’t leak in any way. I also hope, given that this probably will be Tool’s last true full length album, that people actually BUY the CD.

Well, I realize it sounds a lot like the scene from Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, but my sister did hear from a security guy she knows in Dallas that works at the American Airlines Center that Tool may or may not be coming to said venue in February.
I doubt there is anything to it, but the rumors are out there for the winter tour.

Guys, I’m pretty sure that first paragraph is a joke and is referencing Volto! recording/tracking, not Tool.

Agreed. The first paragraphs says all the tracks are laid down. The second one basically says… as for the Tool album, they are still writing.

I hope that is not the case. I don’t give a shit about Volto. Would suck if Danny pulled a Maynard and wasted valuable time on side projects when Tool should be the only priority at the moment. We shall see. As for the video…I assume he is mentioning The Pot, which is a massive who gives a fuck. I don’t care about a video for a song from… Read more »

I don’t think it’s Volto.

Joe tracking at the studio just might mean they are getting songs demoed for Maynard or something. If it’s true, It’s good news….but I’m hoping for NO winter tour, and would prefer they get this damn album done.

But Tool is no more in control of that than I am. They ride the spiral, and don’t force things.

You guys are freaking bastards :))

And I don’t see where this hate for Blair is coming…
I thought it was pretty clear that Tool isn’t only trying to engage you ears it isn’t just a band, it’s not necessarily all about the audio part….it’s….ehm…art.
I quite enjoy the esoteric ramblings.

Oh horseshit. Tool will always be my favorite band but the only thing they are trying to engage is your wallet. And that is fine, they do need to make a living.

I agree.Who wouldn’t want money from doing what they like.

BUT I will bitchslap you if you are denying that they are not a regular band, and they do art…and other crap like that.

Some people STILL cannot understand exactly how complex Tool’s music really is and how their brilliance is only paralleled by a microscopic percentage of any band that has ever even been thought to be in the same vein as them. They couldn’t possibly release a record every couple years without it being somewhat average.

Izzy – 10 minutes ago  »  thought the yrs between albums was cuz of legal wrangles and personal issues…? Contract issue was resolved in 98. Lateralus was released in 2001. Makes sense, took a few years to get shit together, Maynard was finishing up the APC Mer De Noms tours. The 5 years it took to release 10,000 Days was due to laziness and Maynard doing another APC album. The almost 6 years it has been since 10,000 has been due to laziness and Maynard doing 18 Puscifer albums and touring with APC and playing wine maker yada yada. @Toology… Read more »

If you follow Danny’s facebook, they’ve been posting pics of Volto! recording lately. I’m certain that’s what it was. There’s a not so subtle clue with the Red Bull stuff. Plus the old-fashioned joke of the intro in the 2nd paragraph.
As far as I can recall, aside from maybe some demo work, Tool doesn’t really track at their home studio.

I mean, him saying “all the songs recorded” or whatever is a dead giveaway that it’s a big prick tease. And at this point, how can you not laugh and love what Blair does?

I never listened to Wings? What are you talking about? I have said on a number of occasions that Wings is the single greatest piece of music Tool has ever written. Got news for you as well, Maynard’s mother died prior to the second APC album, Thirteenth Step, so again, you are way off the mark.

Fuck that noise. Blair can take his silver coleman and ride off into the sunset. They should hire Hellboy to handle the news.

I had always assumed Maynard would use A Perfect Circle and Puscifer as means to warm his voice before recording and subsequent touring. After reading the newsletter I am confident in a new Tool release in the coming months and am giddy with excitement.

Its reads like this that re-ignite my passion for their music. Tool-binge ensuing… now.

This newsletter is a new high (or low I guess, depending on your perspective) for Blair’s trolling skills though. He’s a master. Haha. And although I’ve never seen them live, yes, Volto! is the tits. Glad the guys seem to be having fun in their various ventures. That’s the only real way a lot of artist get inspiration to come back and do their best work. As a musician myself (struggling to get my first “band” going after years of working alone on various things) I can’t fathom how a band like Tool continually puts out amazing quality work and… Read more »

Well Tool might have been recording I doubt it was the actual album sessions though.  Pre-production more likely – usually on albums on the scale of these you record twice, once as a test run and to make sure everything sounds and feels right and you can make whatever changes necessary so it’s all good when you do it for real

Read the newsletter out loud and it sounds like the illiterate ramblings of a drunkin’ asshole, the talentless musing of some fuckwit with an inferiority complex. I wouldn’t even line a birdcage with the pages of that stupid book he’s always trying to spam up the news section of TA with. There are mental patients and stroke victims who are more interesting to listen to then that Phillip Seymore Hoffman looking deuche-nozzle.

“Better yet, still, what about an electromagnetic radiation transmitted (as theorized by Rudy Rucker, among others) – reconstituted/manifested Tool concert (including personality wave guests with all-access laminates) anywhere on the entire planet?:
“Reconstituted”? Live DVD made up of multiple shows?
