Merkin Vineyards Chupacabra 2006 now available in Australia

Those of you who pre-ordered the Chupacabra 2006 via Sip & Listen should check your emails, as this wine is now available for order.  You only have a week to redeem your code before the wine goes on sale to the public, presuming there is any leftover.

Word is that more wine, this time from Arizona Stronghold will be available mid-2012!

A six year turn time might serve that batch quite well.  If given the chance, I would buy.

I am saving one of my bottles for when my son turns early twenties. We can enjoy a glass.

I don’t often drink whine (ie never), but I’m currently drinking a bottle that my neighbors made from the grapes that grow in my back yard.

I’m not sure how this will turn out.

I’m an aussie who is in Colorado on holiday right now, just had a bottle of the Arizona Stronghold last week. I loved it, was fruity and smooth, really delicious! So nice in fact that I’m bringing 3 bottles back with me 🙂 When I get home i’ll have 3 Merkin Vineyard bottles to try and hopefully they will satisfy too, good times!

I remember my mate was once asked by a polite elderly aboriginal fellow if he could buy him a cask of wine, when asked which he replied ‘The one with the lady in a boat’

How about you taste yours now Blender and let me know what it’s like. I have until the end of today to claim my outrageously priced $45 bottle. I can buy some great bottles right here for that. I feel like I’m just buying into this fame thing. Like purchasing some starlets perfume or a models underwear line.

Now that you’re over that hurdle I guess you should just buy one…

And the really sad fact is I guess I will…

And Tyson my dear fellow, one only ever needs one ivory backscratcher.

i was surprised to log in to my favourite wine review site (winefront.com.au) and find a review of this on the front page. the reviewer clearly sought it out so must be a tool fan to some extent: “Merkin Vineyards Chupacabra California Red Wine 2006 Monday, Jan 9 2012 · Posted in cabernet et al, shiraz et al, USA By Mike Bennie    A big back story here, but let’s abbreviate it. Maynard Keenan from the hard rock band Tool creates wine from Arizona with help of winemaking friends. Caduceus is the primary producer here, but this… Read more »

Sounds like the donk didn’t let it breathe before scoffing it down his gullet.

I am a big fan of Chupa……I really enjoy the fact that the last glass is nothing like the first glass. Judith, Sensai, and Anubis are my favorite at this time. I did not enjoy Shinola.

Had a bottle of Chupacabra ’06 last night. Deeeeeeeelicious! Found a local store here in the northern rockies that carries that, as well as Magnus ’09 and Nachise ’09 from Arizona Stronghold. You can probably imagine my delight at stumbling across these hidden gems. Since discovering this, I’ve almost bought them out of all three.

No discount per case? Weak.

You certainly get a discount on the shipping! I’ll be interested to try this and I don’t like their chances of moving much at that price unless it is really good.
