Tool Collection for sale

Toolboy is an avid Tool collector, and he emailed me the other day to tell me that it was time to part with his prized collection.  It features a range of items, most of which would interest a die hard Tool collector.  He’s preferably looking to sell the collection in one lot, and asked me to forward it to the Fourtheye community to see if there was any interest from you guys.

Contents of the 70 piece collection are detailed below, and we will be running this as a silent auction.  There is a reserve associated with the collection, and considering the size of it, and some of the rarities it contains, note that it is quite high.  Feel free to discuss the auction below, but if you are genuinely interested in bidding for this collection, let me know your offer via the contact form, and I shall coordinate between you and Toolboy to make this happen.  Note that Toolboy is located in Alberta Canada, but postage can be arranged for most parts of the world.

I am definitely interested in a few of the items listed if this person would be willing to sell them individually.
Just curious hellboy, but what do you think a reasonable starting bid would be?

If there’s no interested in buying the whole collection, then I suspect the seller may be interested in seperating it. We’ll see what happens.
I don’t want to say much about the reserve or starting bid, but we’re talking thousands.

Like 10,000?

If he sells items individually, he will make considerably more than that. But he either wants to sell it as a package for sentimental reasons – to keep it all together, or to avoid the hassle. I predict he won’t get what he’s thinking for the whole collection and will choose to split it.

Sorry about the Salival thing, I had sold a few other items a few years ago including Salival…I am waiting for a very nice copy of the first press VHS edition, which I could include if it’s a deciding factor…lol

Don’t you already have a pair of Maynard’s chonies that you cuddle with at night? 😀

Ok, seriously.. nice collection and I wish I had the cash to buy it. If he parts with things individually, there’s a few items I’d be interested in. Must suck to have to make the decision to part with a nice collection like this. I’m one of those people that if I have something like this, no amount of money would make me part with it.

Theres only one item in that collection I really want.

But I’m curious as to why you would wanna sell all this. You obviously put a lot of time, money, effort, and love into a collection like this.

So how long have you been collecting this stuff? And if it’s not too intrusive, why sell now?

I started in ’96 and slowly bought the odd thing. Later on got on to eBay and started more seriously. A few years ago I sold off a couple items and regretted it, but realized that those items were replaceable and funds went to a good cause. Same thing happening now, This is the part of the collection I am willing to search out again to add to the rest, not listed. It isn’t easy to part with as most are in such nice condition. But until a plan B comes up this is all I got.

I agree, but alot more hassle, packaging, online transaction fees, more emails, etc….but after reading “Toolboogie”, I realized that I have quite the collection and that’s how it has to go if it is going to go. I was just going to start it over because I enjoy collecting there shit for many reasons.

Just know that there are few members here, myself included, that are interested in buying some of your TOOL items individually. Perhaps buying in bulk will yield us a small discount if you were to pursue such a sale.

lol just found toolboogie’s wantlist on Discogs and 90% of tool items is in my “A” collection and he has a lot of my wantlist….awsome! Together, we got most of it collected! Thanks again everyone for the input….this is a good forum and I will be sticking around with you guys! Collection sale is over!!! I’m not selling it individually but thanks to all for the offers!

I obviously do not, but extremely few were manufactured and I would regard that item to be just one of the be-all end-all holy grails of TOOL merchandise collecting.

It is an Australian promotional release, I guess. About a third of the way down the page below is a list of tracks and videos.

I have never seen an instance of this item on eBay or anywhere else on the internet (other than the above) since I found out about it.

I seen it on eBay Germany about 4-5 years ago for $800 EUR or something…which is why I didn’t buy it…never seen it otherwise…just the pics from the listing….one day!!!

I am going to keep going with it…an alternate plan for what I was trying to raise some cash for is unfolding already….didn’t really want to in the first place and I was keeping enough still, not listed. Trades??? Well….I got a Japan release of Opiate OPENED from ’06, very nice, I might be willing to trade for that

This had a hat, the double undertow CD, VHS of the videos to that point a shirt (I believe) and sticker. Can’t remember anything else from it, but just looked like a shoe box with the black TOOL logo printed on the top
