Vic Firth Signature Artist: Danny Carey

Finally something for Tool fans can get their teeth into.  Danny Carey is the spotlight artist for Vic Firth, and they’ve published a great video interview on which Danny talks about pretty much everything, including a plan to be in the studio by June/July.  The videos also feature some great drum cam footage:

great interview. From now on Danny should be the go-to guy for interviews. He gives all the information that fans are looking for within five minutes. He just seems like such a cool easy-going dude. Those live drumming videos were incredible, especially the one of ticks and leeches. I am so excited for new TOOL. It sounds like it will be out just before 2013…maybe 12/21/12?

Other than the tours, this is probably the single best thing Tool fans have gotten in the past five years.

If they go into the studio June, 12/21/12 is a definite possibility. I’ve been predicting that would be their next release date for about 3 years now. I think that, with the timing, it’s just too good of an opportunity for the band to pass up, especially knowing Maynard.

An album by the end of the year ain’t gonna happen. You still have artwork and stuff….Q1 2013 if we’re lucky.

I think they’l be decided on artwork pretty quickly when they find the albums guts,i dont think that will hold them back. Im wondering if alex grey will be part of it. I havent seen his stuff in a while. New stuff i mean.

I hope they won;t use Alex Grey for a third album. His art is gimmickful and used to death. Need somebody new and refreshing. Sick of seeing chakra eyes and spirals. Somebody tell adam that lateralus (the song) and spirling out was written 10 years ago. Next!

The new Meshuggah is fucking awesome btw!. SWARM!

I really, really hope they don’t use Joe Barresi again.

Joe Barresi is a clumy klutz when it comes to engineering and producing. Italians should stick to pasta.

i actually agree in the case of TOOL. don’t really think his style worked for them, but he also did the last ISIS record, which is by far their best sounding record. no doubt about it.

Pretty sure its Baressi (awesome) but Bottrill again could be cool. ALSO on dannycarey.org it mentions another interview soon!

I think the next album will be a double album. They have been writing since maybe 2009, 2010 for sure.

Keep dreaming. In today’s moneyk making world it’s not financially viable to realse double albums. Plus I’m sure Maynard hasn’t really ahd much input in the vocals. A double album was on the cards way back in 2001-it’s all talk the talk and no walk the walk from Bullshit Blair. It’s been six years they don’t want to delay the album anymore than it is.

It probably also wasn’t that economically feasible in 2006 to be putting stereoscopic glasses on their album as well
