Tool April 2012 Newsletter released

Blair has released the lastest Tool newsletter this morning, and it is part one of a series of newsletters outlining the history of Tool’s Loft. I haven’t had a chance to read yet, but I imagine it’s a good one for all you Tool nerds.

Find it on Toolband and Toolarmy.

Maybe these are a run up to the new album. Certainly feels like they are talking a lot more about themselves and being more open. I think we could be getting a lot of Tool releases in the coming years as the vaults are opened?…

Maybe this is Blairs way of telling us the band broke up.

Why is there no 10,000 Days on vinyl? Just wondering…..

Ive always said that a Mantid created vortex is responsible for the Tool sound.
They are basically communicating on the behalf of 6th density Archon Overlords.

Could have been a good read.

Should have, really.

Luckily all that shit is confined to 1 or 2 paragraphs with no real information in them. So if you just skip over those paragraphs you won’t miss anything.

I enjoyed that newsletter. Can’t wait for the 2nd part.

As far as the “unreadable” parts of it went, that’s why I skimmed ’em.

do they just leave that place unoccupied in between albums?

Perhaps I’m the only one taking any particular note of this, but do you all find it interesting that Blair has now described Maynard as “world-class multi-tasker” a couple times? He also used that for his birthday greeting on Tool Army last month, and as someone who had only heard it before used by fans I interpret it as a couple things. I think it may be to placate the fans somewhat (and possibly the band!) in respect to how Maynard does so many things at once, and also it could be a slight dig if the guys are getting… Read more »

Great read. Good information that was new to me. Looking forward to the next installment.

I’m pretty sure I remember reading that Danny owns the loft outright now-a-days.
And also that Danny has another house that he lives in, so I assume that yes, it is unoccupied for the most part.

Someone member on here has been to the loft before. Don’t remember who though.

Pretty cool how the whole thing started kinda as a hobby for the guys and they fell ass backwards into becoming one of the worlds greatest bands. Not denying the talent or the hard work but at the start talk about some lucky breaks.

I always though Paul was the last to join, wonder why it took so long to convince Danny if he thought they were really good?

i remember an older news update from the mid/early 2000’s that Danny frequents ‘the loft’ almost daily. the news thing mentioned something about it “being his job after all”. take anything with a grain of salt with their news but that one makes perfect sense. ya, “Part 1 of the loft” was a proper newsletter for the most part! i got a bit confused with the lodge members coming into the building at first thinking it meant danny took off to another loft but thats not the case..i think he meant the ‘lodge members’ were the other three guys ?… Read more »

The band is breaking up. This is the kind way of letting all the fans down, Building a nice comfortable place for us through happy stories then gently ease in that the members are going their separate ways to do bigger and better things.

These newsletters may be the result of nostalgia associated with knowing that the upcoming Tool album might be the band’s final composition. That’s how it feels to me, anyway.

Great read. Love the history. Blair should do a history of the LA occult scene in the 90s. RATM, Pigmy and Tool all rehearsing at the Loft. Amazeballs.

I enjoyed reading it. I really like a more personal and insider-view of the history of the band we all love.

Amazing how pretty much anything these guys do = “they’re breaking up”. May Jay doesn’t talk about Tool at his wine tastings! They’re breaking up. Puscifer is going on tour! Tool is breaking up. Tool is going on tour AND they’re playing an awesome set list! They’re breaking up. May Jay said “last show” on the last show of the tour! They’re breaking up. Adam is at Monday Night Raw! They’re breaking up. Blair felt like being reflective in some newsletters! They’re breaking up. But hey maybe you all are right.

geeze, i dont get what the deal is with everyone always thinking their breaking up. after lateralus people said the same thing WHY? i didnt think that for one second. whats the point of it? at this stage i can see why it would be a thought to entertain or something but really giving their popularity and the fact they all can still do it why would they split? if anything i can see one more album after this one and by that time they will be close to 60 or whatever. and even with that its just a guess… Read more »

I didn’t think they were going to do a winter tour although I was just kidding when I said that and consequesntly knew all along they were going to tour this past winter so all this talk about breaking up I am sure is a bunch of pure speculation and nothing more unless they actualy do so which they won’t but if they do which they won’t, I predict they might breakup but I doubt it really; unless they do and if that’s the case, well, it was coming. But I doubt it.

Another waste of a newsletter. I don’t care about the history of the Loft. I just want to know how far along they are in the writing process for the new album.

I don’t think they are breaking up, they would have just announced that and called it a day.

I can’t fathom how they could be having this difficult a time writing a new album. It has been over 6 YEARS now.

Go check out Danny’s website. There is a picture of him in The Loft during a recent writing session for the new Tool album from two weeks ago. They are not breaking up you crazy bastids.

I am listening to Wings at the moment. A reminder of just how good these four guys are. I have to laugh at myself. Tool is the only band on the planet that can make me sulk like a petulant four year old. Take all the time you need. THIS music is worth it. Peace out.

dude calm down, all you need to know is that they are writing, which they have been for less than a year, not 6 as you say. contrary to popular belief, it doesn’t take them 5 years to make an album, about a year maybe, but after they release an album they typically tour for 5 years and do other non tool stuff. give em a break, they’re right on schedule. and based on the fact that mjk wasn’t even present when he wrote and recorded vocals for lateralus (he was touring with APC), i wouldn’t worry about puscifer. personally,… Read more »

To those who haven’t realized that at least half of the “magical” references are in reference to entity contact and other neuronautical phenomena by this stage are just plain silly.

HAHAHA i love how retarded and self centered some Tool fans are. It’s so entertaining to see you all overthinking every single thing Blair posts, and thinking you’re owed a certain type of information. It’s also as if you don’t realise that it was the band that made Blair the dude who runs the site. It’s ridiculous how such an intelligent and pure group of dudes who make music of such enormous emotional/intellectual/spiritual scope can attract such small minded retards. Makes me think of Maynard’s comment about the average Tool fan, how if he wasn’t in Tool he wouldn’t bother… Read more »

@Mog- WINGS=YES. Well worth the wait if they are going to keep producing like they have. Quality, people… not quantity.

I was wondering myself if anyone had ever stalked the loft… the energy around that place must be incredible. Like someone else said… to be a fly on the wall (even for 20 days!)

And as far as ‘breaking up’ goes… I don’t think that’s a possibility, even. They might not produce another studio album after this, but even MJ has said they’ll “make music together until one of us dies”.

Breaking up eh? Come on. You can.not.be.serious. McFools. It’s been written, and said, and written, and pissed in the snow and carved on two of the Sphinx’s eight balls – MJK doesn’t participate in this process till things get well arranged. The writing process is long and complicated, and he has better things to do with his time than sit there like the two men in the video posted above. PS) that video @ the loft, for anyone who cares, was taken by Joshua Davis when he was commissioned by AJ to do some album art work concepts for Lateralus.… Read more »

This coming album is going to be among their best. They always improve their craft, but i believe this time they are really taking special care to come up with songs that will blow people away right off the bat, as opposed to 2 years later when you are able to deconstruct them fully. LOL. As far as the references to “magic”, there is nothing silly about it. Our world is ruled by elites that contact the other side and do the bidding of those entities for the most part. Just because most people are brain dead to the full… Read more »

I really don’t get why people are saying that the band is breaking up other than they are a bunch of fear mongering trolls. Did you even read the damn thing or just skim through it and say oh they are talking about the past, that means they are breaking up. You do realize that Blair with all of his long windedness asked the band if he could write the tales from the loft or whatever he is calling it which is basically just a history of tool because he wants to share his experiences with the tool community. If… Read more »

I’m more than willing to give you the opportunity to make that happen, tough guy. typing out STFU with no reason for it is the mark of a true weasel.

Also, some of you get really butt hurt when people say the band is breaking up, with no sense of humor in realizing that most of the time it is something called a “joke”. yeah, crazy huh?

UndKeineEier

The reason I typed STFU is because I was so drained from reading yet another one of your inane comments that I didn’t feel like typing out a full response. You sir are one of the reasons why people hate Tool fans. By the way, when someone calls you a troll, the best thing to do is NOT say it was a joke, as that is what every single troll says when someone accuses them of being a troll.
