There’s been a bunch of speculation lately that Maynard will be making an appearance on the Joe Rogan Podcast, and today via the magicks of Twitter it’s been confirmed:

Should be an interesting interview. For those unfamiliar with Joe, he’s a stand up comedian who’s claim to fame (by Tool fans it seems) is that he’s a cannabis and mushrooms user.
He’s also the host of Fear Factor and he’s the interview guy for at least some UFC events. (Was? Is? Don’t follow UFC too much)

Hmmm, interesting…didn’t DC say tool might go into the studio in July? If Joe Rogan is in LA, doesn’t that mean maynard will be in LA? why would he be in LA other than to do work with TOOL? Maybe this is a good sign…..

This is exciting news for me. Joe Rogan has a great podcast. He can be a little dumb and very annoying sometimes (his version of ‘devils advocate’ is to cut off people with bullying arguments) but most of the shows are really entertaining and cover a VERY wide range of topics. Also, it’s usually 2hrs+ so this should be very interesting

Yep, the audio will be available to download for free, and the video will be available to view on either Vimeo or Ustream (not sure which they’re doing these days.)
I wonder how long Maynard will stay. I really doubt he’ll stay for the ~3 hours they usually do. Think he’ll wear a disguise? I dunno, hopefully it’ll be cool. I don’t expect much Tool talk, though.

Wow, that’s pretty awesome. I am a big fan of the Rogan podcast, it will be interesting to see where the conversation goes. Rogan is a great comedian, he also seems like a fan of music and wine, so I’m sure it will be a good one. I’ve never heard a really long interview with Maynard and Rogan’s podcasts usually go a few hours. Anyways, awesome news!

Rogan isn’t an interviewer he just has conversations, and he’s super intelligent so this should be awesome. The episode with Graham Hancock was amazing. Rogan is no fool, and he’s not a dick either, he’s a good dude.
The best interviews are conversation like, so hopefully Rogan can make that happen this time around. I’m sure Maynard will be quite happy to discuss Tool with the right environment and context.
