Bored this morning? Here’s a track I never got around to listening to before from the Underworld Soundtrack – Bring Me the Disco King by David Bowie, and is it covered by Maynard James Keenan, John Frusciante and apparently also features Josh Freese. For your listening pleasure:
Personally, I think it’s a pretty unremarkable song and cover version. I’m not familiar with the original, and Maynard vocals are limited to a few backing vocals. Now go back to watching the Closing Ceremony…
1. How’s life back in 2003?
2. I do believe it’s ‘Bring ME The Disco King’.
3. Unremarkable, my ass. Easily one of the best things Maynard has contributed to. Danny Lohner has the golden touch.
😉
Comments on the “tool & taco” post at toolband? Apparently, they’re onto a 2nd dry erase board……hmmmmm
I read that more as they own two boards, not that they’ve only used two so far.
Maynard’s vocals are what make this song for me. For the most part I agree it’s pretty unremarkable, although I will say that it does grow on you over time.
I read it this way as well, as he says the instead of a before Dry-Erase board. I hope that means things are really coming along…
It seemed like, in one of the recent newsletters, that Tool has several whiteboards as Blair said that Danny was pointing out something on one of them and he got confused which whiteboard it was on. The way it was written it sounded like they had multiple whiteboards, but it could’ve been there were only 2 and I exaggerated it. Although that is a bit out of character for me. So who knows? Not I. We’ll probably never know what happened here. All we can do is speculate.
That song has been on the puscifer.com website for probably a year now. Its track 20.
Well there you go. I normally don’t get past track one!
I was on Puscifer.com once and I opened a link in another tab and Man Overboard started playing in both tabs with one tab having like a 10 second delay in it. It sounded awesome. I’ve never been able to get it like that again 🙁
this is a dangerous song to listen to in the middle of the day….damn near fell asleep…
its not a cover, its a remake with bowie at the helm. or remix, but not a cover. maynards more of a back up singer on this one
someone needs to tell john to shut up and play guitar like hes good at, and leave singing to people who are good at singing
