Looks like the Tool pillows Blair mentioned are now available for purchase via the Toolband store just in time for Xmas. Turns out they are made from old band shirts, so if you’ve put on weight while waiting for the new Tool album, perhaps you could drag out some of your old shirts and make your own! If you’re not so inclinded to sew, then they can be purchased for $35 each (plus postage). Here’s a pic of the Da’ath Interbeing one (there’s also a Net of Being one):

Absolutely disgusted. Drury nailed it. I don’t know what happened but the Tool that has been my favorite band for over 20 years is gone. Pillows? Really? I mean I could see if it was going to charity or something, but what the fucking fuck? The sad part is some of you fucks are probably going to buy those pillows. Pathetic.

I was only asking because it seems to me, off the top of my head, things like stickers and clothing and key chains have a history as being items which are popular with a wide cross section of the potential market for such things as band branding/marketing/merch etc… pillows, at least not that I’ve seen, haven’t been at the forefront of everyday items you might find branded with something specific like a band name, movie, book, etc. . . There’s nothing wrong with Tool selling pillows, but I expect more from them. Yea, they’ve sold shirts, keychains, stickers, etc in the past…but lately, come on…enough. Make some new music already and stop offering up inane shit.

its not that i think selling pillows is wrong to do. its not really but they are over priced and since its artwork from the past (the blue one is a tad newer ill give them that) but its still kinda lame.
ah face it. i think tools beyond comfortable in their careers. they arent hungry anymore. they are enjoying the fruits of their labour and the new album will come once they are done vacationing and sewing 🙂

gonna go out on a limb here and say this is probably an idea pitched to danny first by rynne stump. i dont really see the issue in having repurposed shirts as pillows.. it just seems like the band is trying to lend itself to the artists most closely related to the band and letting those (that) people (person) have some creative reign with Tool’s artwork. Sig pillow, t-shirt pillows, Alex Greys’ thousand dollar grail, BMB prose and print sets.. etc.

i thought th is recycled tool shirt talk was just you guys making fun of the pillows. but they are from recycled t shirts..whats recycled mean exactly? they arent worn out shirts ? really? no way. must be defetive shirts with holes in them or something. i cant see them being faded and old looking. no way!
Maybe, I expect they’ve just got hundreds of certain sizes/designs sitting in a warehouse somewhere and they’ve just looking for ways to clear them out. Quite likely to make room for new merch.
