Pusicifer to release All Mixed-Up

Maynard has announced that there will be a Puscifer remix album All Re-Mixed Up out in August this year, which will contain tracks from the Conditions of My Parole album worked over by a bunch of his buddies:

All Re-Mixed Up is the continuation of the Puscifer tradition to release alternate versions, reworks, and remixes of what we consider initial thoughts. For instance, Carina Round was nervous about how to approach her version of โ€˜Telling Ghosts.โ€™ Mat Mitchell put her at ease by asking her to think of it as a song half written, advising her to โ€˜now write the other half.โ€™ Itโ€™s extremely liberating in the digital age to approach composing and creating in this manner. Infinite paths to explore, reinterpret, and re-present.

Here’s the track list:

  1. Monsters (Deconstruct) remixed by Mat Mitchell
  2. The Green Valley (Verde River Maestro 507 mix) remixed by Rani Sharone (Stolen Babies)
  3. Monsoons (JLE Motorik mix) remixed by Josh Eustis
  4. Telling Ghosts (Giorgia Oโ€™Queef mix) remixed by Carina Round
  5. Horizons (Dream of a Lie remix) by John Fryer (This Mortal Coil)
  6. Man Overboard (11AD remix) by Alain Johannes
  7. Toma (Burn Out remix) by Five Knives
  8. The Rapture (JLE Needs Service mix) by Josh Eustis
  9. Conditions of My Parole (F.U.B.A.R. remix) by Sir Mix-A-Lot
  10. The Weaver (Virtual Vacuum remix) by Aaron Harris (PALMS)
  11. Oceans (Green Mussel Mix) by Zac Rae
  12. Tumbleweed (Delusions of Grandeur mix) by The Beta Machine

It contains the usual selection of Puscifer buddies, but it’s interesting to see Sir Mix-A-Lot lending his talents to the album. Album will be out August 27 at the usual outlets.

Actually looking forward to this. Something tells me “Donkey Punch the Night” bombed, but regardless always like to see a release with more tracks like this.
Reminds me of the NIN remix albums at first glance… which were all pretty great. Still wonder why TR and MJK never had a truly successful collaboration and if they ever will. If not, it would just be a little sad that two visionaries running parallel courses never released something together.

the name reminds me too much the The Cure ‘Mixed up’ album from 1990. if any older people are around or just cure fans in general. and being i dont care for puscifer that much at all i think the cures remix album will always kill this one! (its a great wack of tunes on that if u like the cure and havent heard it)

peace out!

I’d rather hear a full live album. They tend to pull off the songs better live anyways.

I am a fan of a few of the remixes Puscifer has done in the past. I DO think a live album would be a great idea. Especially with the new lineup. They absolutely killed it at Coachella weekend 2.

Hahahah, the album cover is worth the price alone ๐Ÿ™‚
The remixes are gonna be ace like the Viagra re-mixes.

And I doublt MJK has much to do with the mixes as stated. He just picked the artists he loves and wants to remix his stuff and lets them go. Cant wait.

(you crybabies will get a new Tool whenever/if it happens) Dont pause life.

‘The Internet is full of extremists’ Much like someone that would say Maynard likely spent 2 days working on this remix album. Really? I think he takes more pride in his brand than that. He has as much to do with a ‘remix’ as he has to do with the instrumentation of all his efforts. Doesn’t mean he plays instruments or is a program prodigy. He’s an artist and arranges as he sees fit in accordance with his vision. You can’t fuckin tell me this guy sits on his ass and pays people to create all of the music and… Read more ยป

No I know. I was kinda combining my response to both urs and other dudes comments. I wasn’t specific.

And yes, what puscifer means by remix is a ‘reinterpretation’. Which in my opinion can have just as much to do with the original artist as the original.

It’s funny that he gave it the same title as a 311 song, a band that he publicly (and unfairly) hates.

Ever since Conditions of My Parole came out, any news APC related doesn’t get much more of a shrug from me. That Puscifer album was miles better than anything by APC, and they’re live shows are certainly better. So as far as I’m concerned, he can just keep doing more of that. I don’t need anymore APC, just Puscifer and Tool.

Good to see everyone keeping up the healthy criticisms of artists that are DOING something with their lives other than sitting on a keyboard talking shit.

That being said, can’t get too excited about a remix album. Never been interested in these sorts of songs, even if they’re good. Now when they change up a song or add things to a song LIVE, then it is interesting and usually a welcome change.
