An interview with Billy Howerdel from A Perfect Circle today by Greg Prato at Rolling Stone. Billy chats about the Greatest Hits album, By And Down, the Red Rocks shows, Ashes Divide and APC’s future plans. I’m sure the highlight for many of you will be this:
What about future recording plans with APC?
I hope to, but I know Maynard is in full Tool mode right now. They’re writing a new record, and I have given him some songs that maybe he’s going to look at, but I don’t know how he does with juggling those things at the same time. I’d like to get an APC record underway. But I don’t know – I’m just leaving it up to him and what his schedule allows. I’ll be there when he’s available.
You can also check out the version of Weak & Powerless from Stone And Echo here.
Three Sixty is out November 19th.
Slightly borin read but new info none the less. I thought the Ashes album was fairly good so I’m interested in hearing what’s next. The really good line here is “I know Maynard is in full Tool mode right now.” Which is clearly the exciting part of the interview considering he would know what “Full Tool mode right now” really means.
We know it’s in the works, we know it will be here, we cannot wait…
Maynard is all caught up in his Tool shit, can’t spare a fucking moment for APC. He doesn’t care about A Perfect Circle, he’s just in it for the money.
TOOL should certainly be a priority…
Billy is about to be busy with Ashes Divide anyways. He’ll have McJunkins and so Puscifer will be disabled… It works out just fine. Carina Round can take her fat ass back to the UK or wherever she’s from and we’ll have fucking TOOL back… Is that really a problem for you?
lol, do I detect sarcasm, kieneeier?
You. I like you.
I feel like since 2004 APC has gone from, it’s the band Maynard does when he’s not doing tool, to its on hiatus while Billy and Maynard explore solo projects, to its pretty much done forever, to oh wow Billy and Maynard just played bohemian rhapsody together, to maybe we’ll do some singles here and there that can be downloaded but full albums are done, to holy shit they’re touring, to holy shit new song, live box set of said tour, recording of new song… And now billy is giving him songs and is eager to put together an album.… Read more »
I’m the guy in here that hates eMotive/aMotion so I really don’t give a flying fuck what APC is doing anymore. TOOL are on the verge of a new album… that’s all the news I need. Breaks are necessary and APC needs a break. With all of these little last minute tours and little cover songs and lineup changes… It’s time to take a fucking break. I think Maynard revisiting TOOL will hopefully help him come back to APC with a more creative head. No matter how you spin a cover, it’s still a cover and that takes far less… Read more »
Both good news. Full Tool mode and eventually a new APC album. Love APC and all but it won’t bother me one bit if it takes another 5 years for a new album.
I didn’t know Schroeder was a member of A Perfect Circle.
Am I the only one that feels like the vocals for the live Weak and Powerless (and possibly many tracks from the live thing) has been pitch-corrected? There is a program called Melodyne that can correct out of tune vocals in a very transparent way, it is almost impossible to tell when it has been used. I’m just saying, I heard Weak and Powerless on Jimmy Kimmel Live and I saw the Lollapalooza performance and Maynard and Billy sounded fairly awful when singing together, and every youtube clip I’ve ever seen of this song played live sounded bad. But they… Read more »
More than likely there is some sort of auto tune going on. Maynard has been progressively sounding worse to me and I feel like it’s not for a lack of ability…. More so a lack of interest and enthusiasm… He’s been pretty damn lazy at TOOL shows too… I saw them in Reno last January… that full show is up on youtube and you can catch is human mistakes there. Again, hopefully TOOL re-ignites his enthusiasm.
Pretty sure its legit.
There’s a bootleg out there, so should be easy enough to compare them.
For what it’s worth the official release sounds much more in tune than I remember seeing at Soundwave earlier this year.
From the brief YouTube search I did I found this video of the red rocks show I assume it’s taken from.
The audio sucks on the video but you can still clearly hear that at least Maynard is singing (surprisingly) very in key in the choruses. I can’t hear Billy’s harmonies so not sure about him though…
