Maynard celebrated his 50th birthday over the weekend with a couple of concerts featuring his bands Puscifer and A Perfect Circle, support act Failure and a number of other surprises. The way the set was structured was the first surprise – rather than each band having their own set, it was one large show split into two acts where each band got play a short 3-4 song set before moving onto the next act. Guest performances happened seemlessly throughout the set.
For the encore we were treated to a few unique performances, including Cuntry Boner, Green Jello, Devo on cello and 3/4 of Tool performing an interesting version of Sober. Reviews are overwhelmingly positive both from Fourtheye readers and the media. The LA Weekly also has a gallery of photo’s for you to check out.
I had the distinct pleasure of attending Saturday nite’s show. Beautiful venue, good people & the ever-rotating band lineups made for a spectacular evening…with Justin & Danny putting the cherry on top with “Sober”. Well worth the 5 hour drive & being in LA…lol
Anybody know why Adam wasn’t there? Seems odd.
He has a young baby, there’s probably dozens of reasons he wasn’t there. Not to mention the perception that he and Maynard don’t get along.
Junior also said in the forum that Adam had been sick all week.
As if Junior’s word wasn’t enough, May Jay did post on his Instagram earlier that week a picture of a gift that Adam (some kind of rum) had given him, perhaps giving less reason to think that it’s because “they don’t get along”.

I expect they get along just fine personally. They may not be BFFs or anything, but neither do they need to be.

Saw sunday nights show….was really impressive. Awesome venue and a good vibe ALL AROUND.
why does everyone keep saying that MJ and ADAM don’t get along? any solid evidence for this?
There is anecdotal evidence. Many point to one of the interviews in the Tool Revolver magazine here Maynard discusses some of the frustrations with Adam’s perfectionism during songwriting.
….which does not necessarily mean they don’t get along…people just read too much into a few printed lines of text, imho.
