Snagged one. Bought the set when the first batch came out, should have had the foresight to purchase a few more and hang on to them. Can vaguely remember them having a custom cardboard display to go along with the sales pitch. Lost the CD a few years ago, but Youtube is always there to satisfy the live Third Eye.
Figure the upside (if resold today) is the box would pay for the steak I just ate.
It will be interesting if they continue to place new things in the “Museum” section of their shop. I’d love to see older tour posters if there are any as well as other goodies. I have a unsigned Salival and a signed by Danny. Both are cool things to keep. I wish I could have gotten my hands on one of the Opiate re-releases, but I think I will hold out until they re-release Undertow, Aenima, or Lateralus….that is…if they do re-release. I am always looking for the rare vinyl stuff too. Nonetheless, cool they have a “Museum” section on… Read more »

Somehow I’ve spent the years since falling in love with Tool without this piece in my collection……not anymore! I was fortunate enough to get one of these ordered yesterday! 99.99% sure that I will never open it.
They could have done this years ago and I would have bought one along with thousands of others who never picked it up.
Why now in such a small quantity? They are just leaving money on the table. I won’t get this, probably ever (mainly because of the internet, duh) unless I don’t have to pay $50+ and have my finger on the trigger at the drop of hat to snatch a copy before someone who already owns it, buys it to either never open and/or sell it on eBay for 400% asking price.

I don’t know….If you are a Tool fan, dirty money grab or not, this is a cool thing to have considering prices on ebay had gone for almost twice the amount at times. Sometimes its less about finding an mp3 of it on youtube and more about having a collectors piece. To each his/her own.

I’d buy a copy of the paperback reissue of Wickedest Books should any be found in a box somewhere. I wonder when Blair will get around to seriously writing his own Cosmic Trigger…
But why $100? I got it for less than half that price when it came out (with the spelling errors). Just because its hard to get hold of doesnt mean they should over charge for it. If anything they should just charge about $30 to clear the stock – or have they been hoarding for all these years to wait til the value goes up just like every other ebay collector. They will probably ‘find’ a few more in years to come when Blair wants to buy some more of MJKs wine…
It’s not overpriced at all, and regularly sells for more than $100 on Ebay. As I commented before, I’m sure Tool have much better ways to make money off Tool fans than nickle and diming them for 50 copies of Salival here and there. At best they made $5000 off this, and that doesn’t go far when you divide it between the 4 members and other interests.
Agreed, not overpriced at all, Salival was originally a limited edition release for Christ’s sake. If you’re an artist and say you thought you’d sold out of all your prints from some painting years ago and then stumbled upon a few that got ‘lost’, why wouldn’t you sell them at today’s market value? Tool could have just as easily given them away down on the Walk of Stars area in Holywood, couple bucks is no sweat off their back. Would guess all the money made from these sales is going to Blair, Merch, and whoever else helped out. Speaking of… Read more »
I read your question and immediately thought of the Primus and the Chocolate Factory Tour. I wonder if Tools golden tickets has to with the Primus tour?
To my knowledge, Blair has never purchased any of MJK’s wine.
He’s more into beer and liquor, anyway.

For me personally, that live version of Third Eye from Salival is the best live version of a song by any band that I have ever heard. I have listened to that track so many times, it would be in the hundreds.
That’s all that I think about when I think of Salival. Money doesn’t cross my mind.
I just think ‘Thank god I got to have that version of Third eye in my life’.

I feel that way with Pushit from Salival. I bought the VHS version of this when it came out (I didn’t have a DVD player at the time) and unfortunately the VHS version doesn’t contain the hush video which sux a little bit. So for anyone considering buying this on ebay – stick to the DVD version.

dirty money grab. for all you know they have just been re-pressed. pointless anyway its all on the internet.
Yeah right. I’m sure Tool have much better ways to make money than the occasional dribble of Tool merch.
That’s a bit absurd.
