It’s been a good couple of days for Tool updates, and now Maynard swoops in and gives us another:
I’ve been making regular trips to LA to check on the writing progress of my Tool brethren. Things a progressing nicely. Slowly, but definitely progressing. Nothing is recorded yet, but the guys are confident that the pieces are coming together swimmingly and will be ready for me to begin writing melodies and content ‘soon’. I’m as anxious to get this album completed as everyone else. But as history will show, you can’t rush these gents. Patience is Gold in this Sound Mine. In the meantime, as always, other things are simultaneously occurring. Life is too short not to create something with every breath we draw.

So mark the date, 2/26/2015. This is the absolute most concrete news we’ve had that the new album is being worked on (including the vital piece of the puzzle that is Maynard’s vocals).
I’m going on record saying that if it’s not out by this time in 2017, we’re not ever getting it.
I gave up actually hoping and projecting a date that it will be finally released so I’m changing it up and predicting a time when I can safely say it never will be. Prove me wrong Tool!

WOW. I’m shocked. A REAL AND HONEST update from the least enthusiastic member of the band? How is this even possible? Ok, I’m done being sarcastic…. This is great news, and it comes without a bunch of BS and hints, and secret languages, and alien abductions, and without treasure hunts and secret caves… Just a straight to the point update. Thank you.

PS- This is fucking great news if they are all being honest. Can’t wait for the release and I’m also really excited about what may be releasing sooner (Salival II).
To tell the truth, it seems as if both messages were for the special kids in the class, the ones that will always be behind and that may potentially be a threat and put others at risk. It was as if both posts were written with somewhat heavy hearts to the Mark David Chapmans of the world. While the “news is great,” it isn’t anything we haven’t speculated already. I agree with Zwerewolf about being legitimate update. And come on… people complain about non direct news and now that we have them there still people that don´t see it as good.
I guess it is accurate that people cannot be pleased at 100%… and it’s ok. In the end (whenever it will be ) we are getting a Tool album and something more (like salival 2, a video or w/e) 🙂
Most def a legitimate update. Minus the”fucking with us” part. Minus the multiple choice. Because some people just can’t take it anymore. Blair made reference to people being excited, confused, (and angry). Angry fans have a history of A) having a great time, B) getting along with everybody, C) doing crazy shit?

It is good news. I know others will probably analyse this more than I could be bothered to, but when Maynard wrote “Patience is Gold in this Sound Mine”… I have to admit that I thought it was odd that he used capital letters in that sentence, aside from ‘Patience’ having a capital letter because it was the start of the sentence. It kind of comes across as a title, of something. He doesn’t put capital letters in an order like that on anything else written in his message. Yeah. It would suck as a song or album title.
But.. any device, phone, tablet, laptop would not try to correct him into having capital letters when he was typing that.
It would only do that if he put full stops in before the word that was capitalised.
He always talks very eliquently in interviews, and as a writer, and being anal about how he comes across especially in social media comments, I imagine he wouldn’t like how that structure looked in a sentence…
It’s intentional, somehow.
The ony thing I can think that he is getting at is that it relates to what others on here (not me) have speculated for months now regarding a Salival Pt. 2. A ‘Sound mine’ … maybe archives .. Digging through Audio/Video…

I think he is simply saying that, once again, he is not the reason for the delay. It seems a lot of fans like to point fingers at MJK for the long gap(s) between records b/c of all his other interests/side projects when, in reality, he’s just a workaholic and is staying busy while he waits on the others.

you missed the whole point of what I was getting at.
The last part of Maynard’s comment made it seem like he was working on other music currently as well, presumably Puscifer. So I checked other posts on Puscier’s facebook and instagram and that is in fact what is happening. Looks like they are in the recording process. I bet Maynard wanted to post the message to clarify that he is still committed to the Tool album, and doing Puscifer isn’t interfering with the slow ass process.

i thought the last puscifer was a good album. still think Lateralus is best Tool and that was a few months after first APC?
I feel like all this madness is meant to keep the album from being leaked and to drop it outta nowhere.. I’m sure they’re not big fans of having they’re music hit the web without the art and before they’re ready. Like 10000 days did. I know it sounds impossible in this day and age but if anyone could pull it off it would be tool

Absolutely not.
“Some” I suspect was probably just some of the segues. I think Tool probably could record the album in the Loft, and I think some parts will be, but I think mostly we’ll see the album done in a “proper” studio.

I did, and I’m not sure what you’re actually referring to. There doesn’t seem to be anything there where Baressi says Tool didn’t or wouldn’t record in the Loft.

Back to the Maynard “riddle”, is it that those “Gold”en ticket holders get to sit in on the “Sound Mine” of rehearsals/recording that we are “Patient”ly waiting for?
I know the band/BMB have brainwashed us to make us think everything is a riddle, but for the love of God look up Occam’s Razor.
It’s just a status update to temper expectations and let everyone know that he is waiting on the other3 members just as anxiously as we are.
