Many of you would have noticed the post on Toolband already (and on other numerous social media sites) that the rumoured Tool show on October 31 at the Monster Mash Music Festival in AZ has been confirmed. Supporting will be Primus and another couple of bands.
Blair notes that there is some important ticket information:
TOOL will be performing at the 2015 MONSTER MASH MUSIC FEST at TEMPE BEACH PARK in TEMPE, ARIZONA on SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31 (HALLOWEEN NIGHT). Gates at 3:00 PM.
The first thing that you will need to know is that you CANNOT get tickets for this show via Ticketmaster! Let me repeat this: You CANNOT buy tickets for this Tool performance at Ticketmaster. In order to PURCHASE TICKETS – which go ON SALE on FRIDAY, JUNE 26 at 10:00 AM PST – please click on www.monstermashaz.com
Again, tickets are AVAILABLE (on FRIDAY, JUNE 26 at 10:00 AM) at www.monstermashaz.com
(… and can ALSO be purchased at The Marquee Theatre Box Office, Bookman’s locations, Zia Records stores and Asylum Records in Mesa, Arizona)Now that you know where to purchase tickets, the second thing that you will want to know is that there are NO 3-DAY INCLUSIVE TICKETS – meaning that if you want to see TOOL on Halloween night, you will NEED to purchase a ticket for SATURDAY, OCTOBER 31 (at www.monstermashaz.com)
Make sure you get the right day or you’ll find yourself singing along to The Old Man Down The Road or In The End.
Blair contacted me not long after the announcement, and wanted you guys to know that this isn’t the curveball (which he contends is nearly finished after so long), and that it’s unlikely to delay the album as some may fear. As I pointed out in the forum at worst the album gets pushed back a month, which in the grand scheme of things isn’t really a big deal. He also hints that it could be just the one show – I’ll follow up with Blair to clarify this.
Update: Blair confirmed to me that there are no other shows planned at this stage. That’s not to say there won’t be, but it appears likely this is a one-off show.
No one really seems to care.
Blair really said those things?
Yep
Hellboy, what do you think the curveball is? A music video? Do you think they have something special for that odd show?
I don’t think there will be anything special about the show. They might throw in a different track to the setlist maybe, but otherwise I expect it’ll be the same show as last time.
As for the curveball, I have no real insight into what it might be. It could be a website update, it could be a record or EP of sorts, it could be a video for Opiate or The Pot (or something else), it could be a multimedia experience or DVD. Or it could be a combination of all of the above.
i wonder if they will play sober or 46 & 2 😮
I sure hope so! Shit’s tight.
I can’t think of any band that has disappointed me the way these assholes have.
Year after year after year after year after year….
Such an utter disgrace.
Then why keep coming back?? Haha
I hope posting here gives you some solace from your anguish
It has for me.
I hope they never satisfy you again.
That’s cool their doing the show, but I’m glad it’s not the curveball. It’d be nice to have something tangible for those who can’t get to Tempe on Halloween
They’re
It looks like the Perfect Circle octopus on the poster.
Maynard double duty?
Probably triple duty, new hip and all, go buddy!
primus should be awesome. as alterna-rock from the 90’s go…. Primus still puts on an amazing show. and they’re not lazy like other numetal bands from the 90’s… they may even blow the headliners off the stage. seeing as how it will be the 90 minute greatest hits set.
ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Same show. Same set list. It should delay the album a couple of years. What a travesty
Do you suppose they will do a VIP thing with Adam again for this show?
Probably not.
I don’t think the festival setting really lends itself to something like that.
I don’t get why Blair teased this, a one off show that is virtually inaccessible to 95% of the fans.
Not sure Blair really intended it as a tease – I think he was just responding to what were probably dozens of emails in his inbox.
Hellboy – what do you think the odds that they play a new song at this show are?
Somewhere between zero and fuck all.
“It was a graveyard smash!â€
