Ask Blair stuff!

Update: Thanks all for the responses. I have a huge list of questions for Blair that I will sort through over the next couple of days, and then send to him. Thanks for everyone’s input!

I was speaking with Blair today via email, and asked him if he’d be interested in answering some questions from Fourtheye readers. The answer was yes!

So here’s what we’ll do – you guys will suggest questions you’d like answer, discuss them below (or in the Fourtheye forum) and then I’ll email them to Blair and see what he responds with. Bear in mind that we’re interviewing Blair, not Tool, so while I expect he can answer some questions about Tool, he may not be able to answer them all.

Fire away, but to help me collate the questions try and keep the smart arse comments to a mimimum!

I think i will waste a question on “”Lachrymology”” Years ago you answered me on the TA forums saying there was something to come out on this finally or info on a book whatever it was, with this yet it was deemed b.s YEARS before (which i didnt believe of course, sorry Blair but….ha) so any word on this still? i mean i dont think so,i told you i wasted a question! 😛 but why not, were all use to this sorta thing. most the time.

I was lucky enough to meet both Blair and Adam once a few years back at a very small charity event up in Malibu. For whatever reason that still confounds me to this day, I turned into a bumbling, stuttering idiot when talking to them. My wife was there and had no problem conversing with Adam, but I just locked up. Anyway…my question would be – Has Blair ever witnessed any of the guys meet someone who’s presence caused this reaction from them? Has he ever seen them starstruck? And if so, for who?

Why hasn’t anyone found Problem 8 – The Riemann Hypothesis yet?

Can it still be found?

Has anyone been close to figuring it out?

Any more clues?

If this question is asked to blair though, it should be clarified wether youre asking about the math problem or the hidden tool track.

Blair -do you talk I the same manner you write newsletters? And if so, how many people have fallen asleep on you mid-conversation? Kidding! Where/how did you come upon your unique writing style?

Does Blair have any insight into whatever happened with that ‘Human Experimente’ group Maynard was involved with back in 2009? I asked Maynard awhile ago on Twitter but he didn’t answer…I still listen to that 21st Century Schizoid Man cover all the time, and they were supposed to release an album, but then the whole thing just seemed to disappear, website was taken down, etc….it’s bugged me for years, that project had potential!

Actually I think I misread your comment from the get go, so just posting the track probably makes no sense to you. That project wasn’t a Maynard project, it was Robert Fripp’s. ‘The Human Experimente’ WAS the album, released in 2009 and featured a number of guest muscians in

Actually I think I misread your comment from the get go, so just posting the track probably makes no sense to you. That project wasn’t a Maynard project, it was Robert Fripp’s. ‘The Human Experimente’ WAS the album, released in 2009 and featured a number of guest musicians performing KC songs with new arrangements. I have it (somewhere around here), and TBH, it wasn’t terribly great. The track with maynard was okay from an objective standpoint, but I will admit I got a little more out of it because it *was* interesting hearing Maynard perform the vocals. I’m really trying… Read more »

– any new tool material on the monstermash fest?
– how long ’till the curveball?
– do they (tool) have like a few songs mostly completed or maybe it’s more like half-way or perhaps mostly done? the new album i mean.
– is maynard using his new station at the loft or is he working from home?

dunno if he’s willing or able to answer any of these but i guess it’s worth a shot.

Question: Music listeners can get an overall “feel” from specific favorite albums. The music combined with the art, a moment in life/time, or the lyrics can create a mood or feeling. With that being said, what Tool album does Blair consider his favorite and for what reason related to an overall feel or mood about the album? Thanks!

What do Tool have against touring in the UK/Europe? Been waiting patiently here since ’07. Doesn’t Justin have any desire to play shows for UK fans???

Does the band to your knowledge use occult practices in they’re presentation , writing ,arranging or recording as well as live performances in order to better serve they’re vision and art to the masses?

Hi Blair.

How secretive does the band behave with you? Do they try to limit your knowledge of their plans due to a belief that you will spill the beans with fans? Do they tell you things and make you swear to secrecy?

What’s your favourite colour?

What is the best qualitative/quantitative word to describe how much fun Tool stuff there is on the horizon that we don’t know about?

Regards,

Canada

Blair, what do you think of the Mars crab picture on NASA’s website? The pics of the women were a stretch, but that crab-thing…

Also, that pic of Maynard in South Park got my hopes up. Any chance of DVDA opening for Tool?

Im late to the party.

Are there still plans of updating the Toolband website? I would imagine that would pair well with the next album release. And if an update does happen, can we expect a Dissectional2 type experience to accompany it? Maybe some more hidden links and floating clickable dots…

Blair,
Can you please elaborate on why Sirius is immune to the precession of the equinoxes? Can you also elaborate on the link between the western calendar and the Sothic Cycle too?

Thanks kindly.

adoxnz

Hey Blair

I was just wondering after years of writing cryptic & pseudo cryptic nonsense with a clear intent to infuriate overly analytic & impressionable Tool fans, why is this still an interesting writing style for you?

Is it because there are constantly new waves of younger fans for you to bamboozle? Or are you just sociopathic enough that the frustration of the collective tickles your soul in a way nothing else can? Better yet, perhaps you’re channeling energy straight out of our fourth eye chakras into some of your occult magick?

Fess up bud.

Much love.

Yes, my question is in 2 parts. 1) who is replacing MJK as the new vocalist for Tool? That’s obviously the “curveball” that has been mentioned. I hear Sammy Hagar, David Lee Roth and Joe Lynn Turner aren’t up to much these days….. If MJK wants to devote his time to making terrible wine and his (GASP!!!) side project Suckscifer then get one of those other guys I mentioned that are on the unemployment line. 2) Does it bother you that you are the inspiration for the character Gollum from the LOTR movie trilogy? Judging from the picture HB posted… Read more »
