As promised, there was a special announcement from Tool on September 23rd, though it’s probably safe to say it’s not the kind of announcement many were hoping for. Instead it gives details of a special Tool VIP session happening the day before the Monster Mash show in Arizona. Details are below:
Thank you for your attention concerning an important announcement from TOOL. For those of you who are planning to go to the MONSTER MASH MUSIC FESTIVAL in Tempe on Halloween, there will be a TOOL VIP EVENT* that includes a Q&A session with some MEMBERS OF THE BAND that will be held in PHOENIX, ARIZONA on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 30th. The exact time and location for this special event is still to be determined, and those who are interested should check back with the TOOL WEBSITE and TOOL FACEBOOK PAGE on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30th for the OFFICIAL ANNOUNCEMENT. Tickets for the VIP EVENT go on sale on FRIDAY, OCTOBER 9th – AVAILABLE at the TOOLBAND.COM WEBSTORE. Again, please CHECK BACK with the band’s website and Facebook page on WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 30th for the official announcement.
UPDATE: Although there will be a limited amount of tickets available for the TOOL VIP EVENT, you don’t have to have a ticket to the Monster Mash Festival in order to purchase one when they go on sale on Friday, October 9th.*Please note that this special event involving TOOL is not a performance.
Sounds like an interesting event, and I hope someone from Fourtheye can get along and give us a report! Hopefully we’ll get some something similar to the VIP sessions Adam Jones did on the last tour.

I was on the fence about going to Tempe but now I wish I had. Even if there is no new info, the VIP event seems like a great opportunity to see Adam open up about the band. Have a great time y’all!
Please let this not be the curveball
I highly doubt this was the aforementioned “curveball,” especially considering the curveball has been referenced far before this show was announced, but it is a disappointing announcement regardless. I would have liked to have seen them announce this like any standard “news” update on the site, instead of making it sound as if it were something that would benefit the entirety of the fan base, as opposed to only those attending the Monster Mash Festival or other shows.
All I’m saying is after all this …. Double disc new album or we riot !!! … Lol

I don’t live anywhere near this (and probably wouldn’t waste any of my money on it anyway) but if anyone goes, can you please ask why it seems to be impossible for them to release Problem 7 or some of the live content they recorded for the never-to-be-released “live DVD” to the diehard fans who have stuck with them through these lean years?

I know this is me venting, but we wouldn’t be so sick of this if they didn’t always promise us new stuff right around the corner. Whether it’s Danny with his unrealistic timelines, or Adam telling their lawsuit’s over, which was holding them back, or Blair with his updates which don’t seem to line up at all with what Maynard says.. and let’s not forget about the curveball, first announced two years ago. It seems absurd that they’re doing this gig and the VIP session if it’s just going to be the same old stuff. Logically, that’s what I would think but I’ve been a Tool fan for a long time and I know better. In any case, I hope everyone attending has a great time.
