Maynard James Keenan Biography

It was supposed to be ready for his 50th, but it finally looks like the Maynard James Keenan biography (no longer an autobiography as initially thought) will finally see the light of day next fall. Presumably that’s a northern hemisphere fall, so probably around this time in 2016. That’s a fair way off for something I thought was pretty much done, but I am not wise to the ways of book publishing.

Here’s the statement from the Puscifer Facebook page:

And away we go!
Sarah Jensen wrote:
“We have, as they say, inked the deal.
It’s been a year-long journey of proposals and queries and nibbles and “nope”s, but my amazing agent, Ann Collette, never lost faith in the dream.
The agreement with Backbeat Books is a reality, and the biography of Maynard Keenan is slated for publication next fall.
Lots of work still to be done, but today’s priority: feeling grateful to everybody who’s been there for us throughout this project. That means you!”

I enjoy a good (and even a bad) Rock n’ Roll biography, so am looking forward to it!

Maynard James Keenan Biography

Maynard initially started talking about a “>biography back in 2013 on Triple J radio here in Australia, and then again with Marc Maron in August 2013. At that point it was planned to be released for his 50th birthday. Obviously this never happened, but it’s great to hear that the project hasn’t been shelved altogether.

Presumably the book will cover a range of topics, from his childhood, rise to fame with Tool, as well as his experiences making wine and creating Puscifer.
