Tool VIP Experience on sale now

The Tool VIP Experience package prior to the Monster Mash show is soon on sale via Toolband! As expected the prices are high ($499.98), and while I expect there will be some complainers, it is what it is. The conditions of entry contain one quite interesting waiver, which make you wonder what they have in store for those attending:

7. You will be required to sign a waiver upon check-in. Each participant may be photographed and/or recorded (audio and/or video) by Tool. You unconditionally grant Tool a perpetual and irrevocable license to use your image, name, likeness, in audio/video/photo recordings, etc. in any manner as we see fit throughout the universe.

Being asked to give up the phone is pretty much a given, but that waiver to me suggests that this “show” is being recorded for something. We can only speculate as to what it may be, especially as they’ve said it won’t contain a live performance.

Blair also posts on Toolband that the night “will include Q & A… A RARE GALLERY of ARTWORK and MEMENTOS, PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES, and MONSTER MASH FESTIVAL MERCH available for sale.” Tickets are limited, so if you have that kind of money, then get on board quickly!

Well…. Something big is clearly (finally) going to happen….

Can’t be that big if only a couple hundred people get to see it. I’d bet they will show them the Opiate video, and film the audience reaction for there own curiosity.

If it includes something other than just a lame Q&A, then it could well be Opiate video.
Since it is nearly Christmas and we know how much Tool love making money these days, I’d be thinking Opiate video would be part of a Salival II type package.

Maybe everyone gets to see/hear Salival II and then they do Q&A after.
Then preorder info the next day.

Pretty interesting waiver there… I hope somebody that visits fourtheye regularly is going so we get a report as to wtf is going on with these guys.

I’ve really truly tried being patient over the last X amount of years but it’s wearing thin… I think the only things that can tie me over are the new Intronaut and Deftones albums…

In all honesty… it doesn’t matter because the album drops when it drops and being patient or impatient gets me to the same ending… have to remind myself of that sometimes…

You’re more than welcome, Z! I hope everyone checks it out. One of the best CDs I have heard in a loooong time. By far their best and they’re not even touring on it. I would travel to see them play those 12 songs. Never thought I’d hear myself saying, “Jack White is an awesome drummer.” But he is, and it probably ensures that Meg will never pick up a pair of sticks again. Bummer. And it is “sir” if we’re being formal.

Holy money grab! Sounds like a touring museum of sorts.

I read FourthEye semi-regularly and had the money to splurge on the experience. I’ll report whatever I can. Trying to think of some good questions to ask… most interested in the musical aspects, gear they use (especially synths), and their creative process.

Very stoked for the show.

yo. that’s great dude/dudette. i’ll be at the show and would definitely drop the $500 for the Q and A, but am deciding to prioritize spending time with some friends i haven’t seen in a long time who will converge to see the show from lots of parts of the u.s. so. i too very much look forward to your report! i love your question. may i share mine with you? for what it’s worth, here are the five (plus a comment) i’ve been mulling over: 1. what the fuck is maynard whispering in the eulogy breakdown? i’ve seen tool… Read more »

I have to be critical of this, and please forgive me for what may or may not be shortsighted interpretation. I find this to be extremely capitalistic and just… sketchy. I understand them not wanting anything to leak, but the notion of surrendering my means of communication is an unjustifiable extreme, in my opinion. I don’t like the idea of entrusting ANYONE with my personal belongings, even if they are professionals involved with a band that has heavily influenced my own life experience. I don’t know what to think of this whole thing, but I guess all I can conclude… Read more »
