A post from Blair today reveals that a Tool US Tour is on the cards for early 2016:
SOMETHING WICKED THIS… YOUR WAY COMES!
For those of you who only like NEWS about TOOL, here’s something that should be of great interest. The impenetrable veil of my dark scrying mirror FINALLY CLEARED today – enough so, in fact – that I could perceive a large heptagram on a complexly lit stage where four performers were dwarfed by dramatic video projections. Evidently the sonic and visual extravaganza that I was receiving is a rare glimpse of future TOOL U.S.A. TOUR DATES in the month of JANUARY, 2016 e.v. However, with some of the images in the depths of the black glass not being clearly distinct… YET, fans will have to keep checking back (SOON) on the Tool websites and Tool facebook page for an official announcement containing a list of the SHOW DATES, CITIES and VENUES, as well as for info about a tour support act(s). Regarding an opening band(s), what I was able to discern through the ever-shifting veil will in all likeliness be exciting to many Tool enthusiasts. STAY TUNED, FOLKS… as my trusty SCRYING MIRROR CONTINUES TO CLEAR…
I have no particular intel on this coming tour, so don’t have much to add! This is good news for Tool fans who are in need of their Tool live fix, and hopefully will be a good chance to hear recently introduced songs such as The Grudge and No Quarter.
Blair hints at a support band being one to excite Tool enthusiasts. We can rule out Failure as they are playing Soundwave down in Australia during January. The Melvins could be a contender. Maybe King Crimson, which I know would excite many! Yob could also be on the cards as well. Perhaps something from the Mike Patton stable – Tomahawk or Fantomas?
Of course, it means that the album is probably not going to happen anytime soon either, so let the complaining commence!
FFS
Soundwave maybe?
Soundwave is in January this year, so very unlikely.
i might have to pass on this one. as much is id love to finally hear no quarter again (if it happens) i dont know if 100 bones for that and one or two other new tunes is worth it. i think id rather see something else these days until they tour with new material.
I guess they need some cash for the year.
“no more touring before the new album drops”…..blablablablablabla. Adam Jones.
Totally the minority here, but I am stoked for them to tour. I’d love to see The Grudge live again possibly! YESSSSSS!
I was so fortunate to be @ Monster Mash down in Arizona Bay, this is just too sweet! And just in time to cancel nearly ALL of my Christmas shopping!! TOOL tickets for EVERYONE!!! Ho, Ho, Ho!!!!!! 8~)
I guess they need some cash for the year. <—this right there…
no new music = no new money boys
Maybe a short tour to build excitement and increase album sales?
New album by June 1 guaranteed… mark your calendars.
June 1st? No chance. We’ll be lucky to get a new album in 2016.
If I can see The Grudge and No Quarter I am game! I imagine they will be working on the new album?
Something overlooked at Halloween show. The new jam was bad ass. Maynard’s involvement in it was Really good to see. Very small involvement, but good. No matter how minor, he hasn’t involved himself in a new jam in ten years as far as I remember so… Maybe he was just drunk, but… Maybe he is getting into it…
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=oFIwoPtlFsk
While I’m on jams they should just put this in the new album because it’s great!
It’s Guns N Roses opening for them. How else are they gonna ensure that Axl actually hits the stage for their reunion tour? By making them an opening act.
But seriously, I hope it’s Crimson. That’d be a dream come true if that new incarnation makes it down to Texas.
Intronaut has a new alum out and they’ll need to be touring on it…
I wish Jakob would come to the US…
BTW, The casual fans are blowing up my Facebook feed already… “Maynard said his fans are retards….” “Maynard said… insufferable” …. “Maynard said….”.
Jeez… what a bunch of fools.
The last tour was only 12 shows in March 2014 and was all West Coast. I really hope this January tour makes it to the East Coast. Last time I saw them was February 3rd and January 29th 2012, the last time they toured the East Coast.
I really hope they come to Mexico once again… i don’t think that could happen… but who knows!?… I’m glad new tour is coming…i mean they are a band …they are suppose to play… i wish it to be a new album tour but…. it is what it is. For those attending… enjoy! 🙂
weren’t there rumors recently that Isis could be reuniting?
There was a fake Isis Instagram account that said they were reuniting in 2016, but it was pretty clearly bullshit.
Isis could only reform if they decided to change the band name.
The new KC lineup is worthy of headlining with Tool in support. I’d go somewhat out of my way to see that.
KC has more new material than Tool too.
Zing!
my guess for opening band is ‘NORSKA’
possibly INTRONAUT , RAJAS ,YOB(again yes) , BIG BUSINESS.
I’m hoping the tour support are my boys from Black Pussy. They play Stumpfest every year.
Check ’em out if you haven’t.

I’d go to a show if I could select to only give money to King Crimson. 10 years for new music is INEXCUSABLE. Legal battles aren’t any excuse for not being ‘inspired’ within this 10 year span between their last album. This is ridiculous. I wish I could see King Crimson, but I really don’t want Tool getting more of my money
They haven’t played Chicago in forever. Really hope The Grudge stays on the set list. No quarter too, but didn’t the Halloween version seem a little slowed down? Also nice to see parabol and parabola paired. I don’t like when they desperate tunes that should go together. I saw intention and felt cheated when right in two wasn’t played after. The Grudge is top on my list to see!
There literally has been an entire setlist of setlist change-ups that have happened since lollapalooza in 09. If they comeback to chicago, the only fair setlist would be…
The Grudge
Intolerance
Sober
Opiate
Ticks and Leeches
Parabol/a
The Patient
You Lied
No Quarter
Intension
Third Eye
Haha agreed, if only… And replace the patient with Hooker with a penis.
ew no, The Patient is the GOAT
Just add hooker in there, again… it’s only fair.
Must be extraordinary fun to play the same 5 songs for 20 years now.
My ultimate set list:
the Grudge
H.
Prison Sex
Push it (Saliva)
Eulogy
Maynards Dick
Undertow
Danny Carey solo
Parabol/Parabola
Rosetta Stoned
D/R/T
Stinkfist (newest version)

Thanks so much fanboy.
Thanks CPT Obvious! I had no idea that posting in the comments section of an unrelated news article on an unofficial, 25 year old band’s unaffiliated website would make one consider me a fanboy.
Now the only question is what does that make you?
