It’s hard to ‘un-see’ the price for that cymbal.
That ‘signature’ cymbal will probably retail for $500.
To see the band trying to sell it for $3500, just because it has been played at a gig and signed by the band… fuck… that is really depressing.
Personally, I don’t care who signed it, I wouldn’t even pay $500 for a cymbal. To me, $500 is way overboard for a cymbal. I’ll never get over how expensive drums costs.
I admire Danny Carey. I think he’s easily one of the top 10 best drummers of all time – at least, that’s my opinion. Even still, $3500? Fuck no.
It’s seriously fucked up.
Tool are not this kind of thing.
Tool ARE this kind of thing. They have been for awhile now.
Send more money.
Musical instruments have a somewhat exponential value in regards to quality (of build and tonality). You can get pretty good instruments for mid level prices. I.e. an Epiphone is a pretty nice guitar. They sound good. Nice to play. A real Les Paul will cost you around 5x what the Epiphone does. It is worth the extra to someone truly passionate who can afford it & will get a decade or more of use out of it, appreciate the subtleties in tone & sustain etc… Same with drums. Signature model will always add some $, because fan hype… I bet… Read more »
so is the $3500 cymbal the “curveball”? that cheesy flyer too… these dudes are so classy!
WOW… really? I feel like I shouldn’t be surprised that they have gone to this level but I can’t help but be taken aback…
Are they ungrateful? Or are they just blatantly taking advantage of retards? Maybe a bit of both?
$3,500…
Also it says “Signed by Band” but I only see Danny’s signature.
It’s pretty expensive. I can’t talk I spent $150 for an opiate CD.
So, the best they can do is play 5 minutes of new music that goes nowhere? They will not be in the studio anytime soon.
Back in the day we’d hear whole new songs before the albums were released and they’d be totally different versions.
I know they aren’t in the same position these days, but if they reall have 20 song ideas they are working on, why choose one barely rehearsed Jam over and over?

$3500 for a used cymbal… perhaps cash flow is becoming tight for some members of the band who are too lazy to write anything in 10 years (and I’m not talking about the guy who writes for 3 bands and runs a vineyard, nor the one who played this cymbal who is also in a second band which released an album in 2013).
I wish i could “un-see” all these comments. You people are very depressing…..
agree
It is a little depression, but being a Tool fan and complaining about things seem to go hand in hand.
Personally them selling over priced musical items makes some sense (though I think they’re hugely over priced personally). I draw the line more at blankets and Xmas decorations.
***SARCASM ALARM HAS SOUNDED***
They sure weren’t kidding when they named their last album 10,000 Days.
In April 2016 it will be 10 years since Tool’s last release……… 10 years is the length of time The Beatles were active and recording. Holy fuck a doodle do. Release new music or quit already #floggingadeadhorse
p.s. calling the fans retards yet selling t-shirt blankets lordy lord give me strength. If they just re-released a special edition of aenima on vinyl the profits would be huge for the band. They could profit off something that is wanted and warranted by all the OGT’s. Let me guess they don’t want to pay the artists or record company any royalties….
