First comment about how this is going to ruin any TOOL progress… and really I don’t care that much anymore but I just know it’s coming so complain it up!

I used to get frustrated at announcements like this assuming this would delay the new album but over the years I have come to realize the one guy from the band tied up with this tour is not the one holding up the new album and seems to be the only one in the band with a good work ethic. Good for him that he hustles and has 4 jobs while the rest produce almost nothing.

Yeah I totally agree. He’s a hard worker and we know who the knuckle draggers are in the band.

If I may be honest, I’ve thought about it a lot and honestly… it’s probably a little scary for TOOL to put anything out. Think about it… their best two albums were Aenima and Lateralus. Then 10,000 Days came out and it just wasn’t a 10 out of 10 like the two prior albums. I’m sure they want to come back with a 10 out of 10 but it’s hard to do that when you have such a cush lifestyle I’m sure. Puscifer certainly isn’t a 10 out of 10 by any means. Maynard probably has the least cush lifestyle… Read more »

I can agree with that. I never said I didn’t like it. Just wasn’t up to par with the previous albums. My opinion of course as I do know that people love that album.

It feels better to just assume they’re never going to release a other album. If they miraculously end up recording one, then great.

SO fucking psyched to see Maynard recognising Norway as a destination! I’d like to see Tool also, but this is a welcoming sight anyways.

I seen puscifer on a whim just because I love tool so much and I’m serious they are really really great live. So much so that I’m going again on April first to see them in Pittsburgh. This coming from a hardcore tool fan dieing like the rest of you for a new album. But puscifer is great and only getting better. And live it’s really cool very intimate and they drum up all the songs for a better live show its damn good I’m pumped

Interesting to read the level of acceptance and maynard-support here, and also the considerably more subdued tone on the announcement on Tool’s official FB page. I mean; the latter is usually a hotbed of nerd-raging “NOT TOOL!!!!!~1~~!~one! WHERE IS THE NEW ALBUM!? GET OFF UR FKIN AZZ MJK!! NOBODY CARES ABOUT PUSCIFER AND YOUR SHITTY WINE!” — and it’s been pretty tame as of late. I think Z-Werewolf is touching on what the vast majority of (let’s say) “informed tool fans” have come to accept; That is that A/D/J (but probably mostly Adam) aren’t going to be satisfied with their… Read more »

It’s in post production according to Adam. It’s out of his hands at the moment. Seems there’s a good chance we’ll see it this year.

Very thoughtful post. I do feel a lot better after just accepting that it still may never happen. I’ve been keeping myself occupied searching for new (to me) and interesting music that inspires me so that has been helping with the longing for a new TOOL album. Also, I’ve been meeting a lot of new bands since I’m in a band and play a lot of shows. For you Jakob fans out there, our band is pretty good friends with a band from San Jose called “Even Gods Can Die”. They are post rock and are highly inspired by bands… Read more »

So I’m gonna do this thing we do where we read too much into what blair posts, and expect too much. But on a slightly more optimistic front, this was posted by the man himself a few days ago… — BACK AT IT SOON However the members of the band are decompressing after the recent tour – whether it be fishing pristine streams from a helicopter, digging into a showcase chocolate mousse on a tropical island, shopping for (or creating) macabre art, or being on the lookout for any glassy-winged sharpshooters, the ‘pieces’ are expected to continue with the process… Read more »
