In a short but interesting article on The Creators Project, it is revealed that digital artist Can Büyükberber created a bunch of visuals for Tool’s most recent tour, including the new track Descending.  According to the article:
Late last year, Büyükberber put together ten individual video loops for band’s live sets. In his description, Büyükberber claims the cosmic animated artworks developed through his work in architectural projection mapping performances. Through this work, he began experimenting with “morphogenesis and higher dimensional geometries,†which, in turn, gave life to his design patterns. The animations were used for the first time in 2015 at a show in Arizona, and are now being used in the band’s 2016 US tour.
There is a video which accompanies the article as well:
Though if you prefer, ToolArchive has created a version with a live recording of Descending synced to it.
I saw this on ToolArchive – I thought it was pretty interesting. At the same time though, I thought the visuals were a bit lacking. To be fair, I think this Büyükberber’s work and not Adam’s.
Are they going to be doing the shows in October? One person on ToolArchive commented that a person they know asked Carey recently at a show at the Baked Potato (?) and Carey supposedly said Tool will be playing Voodoo and another show. I suppose it’s just speculation right now.
Nonetheless, pretty cool that he released these visuals.
There’s nothing official yet, but all signs point to them playing a few shows around the time of the Voodoofest.
Can Buyukkberber share his visuals from the recent Tool tour???
Tune in next week to find out!
I dig it. Pretty damn cool
Agreed….Great article. A little reminder that everything goes into the music
Hey HB, when you say a few shows around that time of Voodoo Fest, are you saying a a few out west or around NOLA area? Any ideas? Thanks.
4-5 shows seems to be the common rumour around the place. From what I’ve heard it’s likely to be start with CA and end at NOLA with a couple of shows on the road in between.
Looks like your rumor was correct, 3 shows scheduled for the week between Aftershock and Voodoo – Salt Lake City, Denver and Little Rock….with both the Voodoo and Aftershock announcements tomorrow looks like this is probably it as well.
Hadn’t seen this posted yet so thought I’d share…. Adam Jones RE: Entheon https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-4D7fIVU9Ao
