Looking at that list of bands I have to wonder what they think of a band that has not released its 5th album (technically kind of 4th) in a 10 yr time frame.

Does anyone here like the band Floater by the way?

Only replying one time, but I completely disagree. There’s no possible way their peers in any conceivable realm have any respect at all for them.

God you are such a little bitch Hellboi.
Why the fuck do you think you have to reply to negative comments?
You think you are part of the band or something?
Negative comments require a contrarian response from you ?
ALL THROUGH EVERY FUCKING THREAD?
How about you focus on just reporting the news and cut the endless, “I shall respond on behalf of Tool/Blair and be contrarian because I hope Blair will keep responding to my emails” CRAP.

I got my tickets this morning. Im actually excited but sadly. tools got nothing to do with my excitement. Baroness, Slayer, Primus, and Messuggah?? all on one day. thats amazing.

tool is the stale, dated, tired cherry on top.

looking forward to slayer reminding the kids how its done.

cut hellboi some slack. its not his fault the band is lazy. he runs a fansite for an inoperable band.

Wasn’t it said in a newsletter that Tool were not going to do another live show until they have some new material released?

So much this. So much lol to the person above stating the other acts will have 0 respect for Tool. Members of meshuggah/primus/korn(haha) have all expressed otherwise and that’s just my memory.

I mean. Korn. XD …. XD if they played nothing after follow the leader the 14 year old in me might get excited to watch them 😛

Admiration for them as a band, and that was quite a while ago. It’s possible other bands admire them being supported by their fans to watch Maynard stomp his foot to Lateralus YET AGAIN while getting away with releasing no new material in 10 years, but I doubt it. I seriously doubt Kerry Kings going “Yeah Tool, there you go, that’s the way you do it”

Don’t forget, their own singer doesn’t understand or respect it.

I thought that was more an allusion to the fact that Primus went 12+ years without a new album.

But yeah at that point… that was an extremely underwhelming release.

No. They’re from the productive member of the band, the one who’s frustrated with the others for holding the record up.

How that works is that Les Claypool is the primary creator in those other bands. In the world he operates in, I don’t think it makes a lot of difference what he titles a project.

If you like and can tolerate Korn in spite of themselves, (I can, at times), they’ve released material that’s easily as good as their early stuff. At least they’ve released SOMETHING, and its all varied and at least interesting.

Regardless of what each band thinks of each other, I’ll go to this show and have an enjoyable evening.

The bands playing on the bill will make good money and have a good time.

If Tool never released a new album, the songs they did record will still stand the test of time and gain new fans for years to come.

i highly doubt any of the other musicians are sitting around judging Tool for not having a new album out. They’re probably anticipating it along with everyone else.

I’m more in line with this, have been since the release of Destroy; Contradictions Collapse (1991)
Destroy Erase Improve (1995)
Chaosphere (1998)
Nothing (2002)
Catch Thirtythree (2005)
obZen (2008)
Koloss (2012)
TBA (2016)

Especially Slayer.

I used to love Primus, but they just seem to be more diluted with each release.

That’s cool. To each their own. I like how Slayer has done different things with each record. Very creative within their established sound. Switching back and forth between Lombardo and Bostaph and whether Bostaph chooses to sound like Lombardo or be his technical self on each album is cool. World Painted Blood has a really different, close miles amp production that was a bold step, and again interesting.
No problem at all with anything Anthrax has done.

Bring on the flaming, because everyone who’s not Tool ‘sucks’ and shouldn’t be releasing albums, but I really like the output of those 3, except Primus’s last 2. Green Naugahyde was decent, afraid I’m at a loss for words for ‘Chocalate”

Goddamn fucking scalpers!! Just tried to buy tix for the Denver show, got on the website for purchasing probably the second they went on sale, BOOM!, sold out already. How in the fuck is that even possible? The Pepsi Center ain’t no little boutique venue, fucking sports arena for fuck’s sake. Even tried buying just one ticket, nothing. Oh well, the sound will likely be horrible in there anyways and the chances of a major change to the setlist are slim to hotdog bun none. Tool has a different set list each tour. Since 2010, I’ve seen many different songs from them that I didn’t think I’d ever see again, namely Undertow, HWAP, Flood, intolerance, Sweat, Parabola, Ect.

Damn you. Where did you get Undertow?!?!

I remember when I got Ticks & Leeches. My jaw looked like Sebastian in Little Mermaid.

First ever tool/little mermaid simile?!?

Looks like I was wrong about Undertow…and Flood was back in 2007.

I guess I’m thinking Intolderance and got them mixed up…weird.

I could have swore I saw Undertow in the last 6 years, but I don’t see it on my list. 🙁

I’m always surprised they don’t play 4 degrees. Seems like it’d be an easy song for Maynard.

Agreed – 4 Degress is one of the most underrated songs in their entire catalog IMO.

If memory serves, they played Flood on that tour b/c that’s one of David Cross’ favorite tracks by them and he was also performing at Bonnaroo that year so they added it in in the dates surrounding Roo that year.

I meant a MAJOR change, not just a song or two or some stupid reordering of the same damn songs. Something along the lines of a lengthy D/R/T, or Intension into Right in Two, you know, some combinations that eat up a lot of time, yet flow. Hell, them playing the ‘Holy Gift’ would take up the first set alone, would be cool to experience live too.

Right in Two would be nice.
No it’s true they are pretty limited because they have to abide by what Maynard is willing to sing.

Although not one of my go to tracks per se, RI2 was absolutely amazing live. It helped that we saw it in an opera house so the acoustics were ridiculously good but that crescendo at the end blew the hair off m my head.

Hey everybody!!! Happy Friday! Anyhoots, a pal of mine shared that the TA site is getting a makeover. I guess it’s going to look a lot like the new web store. Anyway, you can check it out for yourself on FaceBook. It’s under the group TOOL Army Members. Gotta scroll down a little to see the post.

There’s one. Yes, great, interesting band. I stumbled across them in 2002 on Amazon.com when reading Tool reviews. This was just prior to Alter. A lot of the reviewers were comparing them to Tool. A lot were also saying yes, while similar at times, very much their own thing.
