The June 2016 Tool Newsletter has been released, and for those who want to get straight to the point it contains no obvious significant Tool update.  Instead it recounts a recent trip to Death Valley for a cover photo for a forthcoming Danny Carey book.
Here’s the Tool bit:
“What about the newsletter?
I have to get back home to post the Tool Newsletter.”Having climbed out of the idling pickup, my friend examined my tire rock placement and then gauged the distance to the edge of the steep drop off. After which, he patted me on my back before jumping back into the Ford, shouting out the window:
“Everyone knows that the band is still working on their new record, and that there’s really no other major news other than that.”
“No, you’re wrong. There are certain things that people need to know about. Things that finally need to be revealed – concerning the new record and other band related matters. Things that I’ve been holding back… for years… because I felt that I had to, but now it’s time to make them public. Only, we’re stuck in this desert hellhole… up to our lug nuts in burning sand…”
Maybe the next newsletter will be more revealing, though I feel like we’ve heard that before a few times!
Somehow these newsletters seem to contain more words and less info than ever.
They also seem to gather more complaints than ever as well. You’d think people would just stop reading them?
It was mentioned at some point but I forgot exactly where that Tool planned to have some new material released before playing live again. I know that I’m naive but I’m hoping there is truth to that statement. I was excited when Blair alluded to giving us news but it turned out to be news that there will be news in the next few months, maybe.
They’ve said this several times. I think the intention is good, execution poor. Doesn’t help when festivals want to pay you a bunch of money to play on them either.
I liked this newsletter for two reasons… Letter 1, was nice to read about Blair having to squirm a bit out there in the desert. Number B, was nice to actually read a story from one hell of a writer.
“…from one hell of a writer.” Wait, who?
I can’t wait … I’m so excited … the next Tool album is going to be scratch-n-sniff.
Hellboy, if the newsletters are getting more complaints then ever, i think thats good news! i havent read much of them in a long time. thanks for the quote from it. i appreciate that.
i think people are doing that kinda thing more and more now. pick out whats worth reading and ignore the rest. maybe Blair will get the message one day.
I think Blair got this message a long time ago and it mostly just fuelled his fire to be more annoying 😛
~”aenima……..aenima!!!!!” as they chanted.
Do you think the loft has earthquake insurance? Will their ‘bug*out’ bags consist of nano guitars , oscillating purple boxes, cereal , gps transmitter located with maynards beachfront co ordinates (decoded from crypt in puscifer survival guide . The coleman I assume floats with cold stella’s.
~I still want to know who lost an arm?

News that there will be news that there will be an album just around the river bend is commonly reported each year… I’m switching my theory of double album to triple album with a movie and live footage. To be released 04/01/2019.
And the savages worship the Coke bottle…….
Fourtheye= Cargo Cult.
Beyond the typical illusive Blair bullshit, ToolArchive recently released a video entitled “All New Songs & Riffs Compilation 2016” (nothing new really). The beginning features a short clip of Danny Carey saying “We’re looking at a feature length film… That might be the next big thing.” (He’s joking.) Then he says (I think) “After the record this summer.” 1000% sure it’s bullshit, just wondering if anyone has any comments on it, after seeing it, especially Hellboy’s. I’m more interested where the video is from and when. Looks very recent.
ToolArchive really is doing the Lord’s work.
It’s funny, I often think with these letters of Blair’s where he appears to ‘ramble’ , in hindsight there has been info contained within that has been of interest to us fans. The most intriguing part of this newsletter to me is the last paragraph, noting that he feels the need to divulge information that has been kept under wraps for some time now, and referencing Mr. Rance Q. Spartley. If my memory serves me correct, that reference has been tied in with, tours in Australia, filming stock footage for use in concerts and de-bugging code for websites. Someone mentioned… Read more »
Broadly speaking Rance Q. Spartley is mentioned when there appears to be discussions of touring. I’m guess the recent mention is a throwback to the US tour alter this year. I don’t imagine there are any other tours in the works at the moment (though recent history would suggest there always seems to be a tour around the corner!)
