Tool December 2016 Newsletter

Just in time for Xmas is Blair‘s December 2016 Tool Newsletter (you can find it in the newsletters section on Toolband).  It takes a Q&A format this time around, and doesn’t contain any info that typical Blair detractors need to know – save yourself the effort this Xmas Day (or Boxing Day if you’re an Aussie like me)!

If you are interested in Blair’s writings, then it contains some of the Santa Code that he talked about at previous Xmas’.  He also speaks about the curveball, and gives the following analogy:

Q: “Curveball, curveball, what ball, where is the ball?”

BMB:

All I can say is that I am standing in the batter’s box kicking at the dirt near home plate. I’ve got my helmet adjusted and have tightened my gloves. I’m wearing both shin and elbow guards, and there’s lots of pine tar on my piece of lumber. Although the pitcher can reache speeds in the 90s, I’m still looking for that wicked curve…

So more of the same in that regard then.  I suspect one day Tool will eventually tell Blair “ok, you can tell people about xxxx now” and we’ll get it.  Until then the wait continues with no clearer picture of when it’ll actually arrive.

Enjoy some time off Tool fans, and don’t forget to submit your albums for the Fourtheye Top 10 of 2016!

I admit, I’m excited about the curve ball. It is frustrating that the signed posters keep going so fast. An EBay seller has four of them listed and I don’t understand how the hell that happens.

I got one of the posters at a concert 2007 in Germany. I think it was 40€ then, which is a fair price.
Interesting to see how the price changed 😉

I thought it was somewhat confirmed that the curveball was the opiate video. Which is cool for one viewing. Then what?

Hopefully the extended version of Opiate they’ve been playing lately will be released too.

Is there a reason this website has not yet reported that Danny bought a wine vineyard in California?

It’s been discussed in the forums.

That’s the reason — because it was discussed in the forums? OK.

Let’s get real here people — when the album doesn’t surface for another five years (if ever), think we have another reason why.

Also, can’t imagine MJK is thrilled with the competition. Sure think this will further strain things.

OK — we’ll wait until he needs you to promote it, then we’ll look for it to be discussed here. Got it.

Seriously. In case there’s any confusion from anyone, he didn’t buy a vineyard. He bought a new house with a very small personal vineyard that’s on the property- like what a garden is to us common folk.

Charlatan. It’s not a “garden.” The property includes a producing wine vineyard, and DC likely bought the production rights.

For at it’s worth, if the report is true he bought Estevez’s vineyard, it sounds pretty cool — and it’s a lot easier to get to than Arizona. I just wish they would be a little more honest about when the album will come out. They’ve been saying “next year” “next year” “next year” for years.

OK — so, it looks like Krazy is right, and I was wrong — (1) it’s just a garden, and (2) not a producing vineyard or anything similar. Going back to my hole now to search for answers as to why re album is so delayed…

Just came across this…

“Tool’s previous New York City shows came in support of their 2006 album, 10,000 Days. The band remains hard at work on its long-awaited follow-up. As of October, they’ve recorded two albums’ worth of material, but only five songs met the band’s standard and frontman Maynard James Keenan had yet to write any lyrics (he traditionally waits until 90% of the instrumentals are written).”

Who gives a shit. No way anybody really thinks THIS is going to hold things up more. Danny has nothing to do with it. Nor does anyone in the band who’s name doesn’t begin with A. Get fucking real.

Could it be a bad pun (is there any other kind?) and the curve’ball’ is a reference to the governors ball ? (Or has he been crapping on about the curveball for longer than could realistically be related to the governors ball lineup?)

ie “Curveball, curveball, what ball, where is the ball?” Etc
