According to Consequence of Sound, Tool will be headlining the Governors Ball Music Festival in NYC June 2017. I believe there was some expectation this would be A Perfect Circle playing, but they now seem pretty sure it’ll be Tool.
The organisers of the festival have refused to comment saying “The full Governors Ball lineup will be announced early next year, at which point tickets will also go on sale.” so keep this show firmly in the rumours category for now.

They just can’t say, “No!” can they? I’m sure it’s a big pile of cash, but at some point the new album has to become a priority. And no, it won’t be out or even started to be recorded by then. On the other hand, it keeps them in the public eye. Just learned today on Loudwire that they’ll officially be eligible for the RNRHOF in 2017 now that Opiate will be 25 years old.
