On the weekend I read that Danny Carey was going to be playing at some Genesis related show, and then promptly forgot about it.
Anyway, it did happen and Danny drummed with the Musical Box (who I’ve never heard of) playing a Genesis song “Can-Utility and the Coastliners” (that I’ve also never heard of). Here’s the video:
Interestingly, the singer says Danny told him the new Tool album will be coming “pretty soon”, though I imagine he says that to all the girls.
“Interestingly, the singer says Danny told him the new Tool album will be coming ‘pretty soon’, though I imagine he says that to all the girls.”
That was pretty funny. Besides, Danny has been saying that for years.
Still on for April 21st then. Interestingly, the most complex bit of drumming was keeping his top on…
I laughend when I saw this yesterday.
“..before any of you ask, yes, the damn album is to come. and now shut up and listen to us” 😀
Excellent. Nice post HB.
I’m now wishing I had sprung for tickets for this latest leg of TMB’s tour, but I’ve seen them about 5 times in the past 3 years now. They put on a stunning performance, recreating golden era Genesis shows to a T.
I keep going back to it. Good song
Danny learnt about a decade ago that with this sentence he can make any Tool fan/journalist satisfied. Why would he change his tactics now? 🙂
God I would’ve killed to see this. Early Gabriel Era genesis is some of my favorite classic rock. Check out suppers ready.
Also, MJK was clearly inspired by Peter Gabriel during the aenima and lateralus tours. PG was the first prog singer to wear full head/body makeup, crazy outfits, dresses etc….
Very underated IMO.
