We skipped a week, but that’s how I roll sometimes. We had some exciting APC news the other day, but nothing else really worth noting. This week I have a couple of little things:

ToolArchive’s Live DVD 2017
ToolArchive from Youtube has once again compiled a range of clips from the last Tool tour earlier this year and made a homemade Live DVD of sorts. It’s a cool effort, so check it out. In particular take note of Tool’s performance of Eulogy – a rare treat, which is accompanied by some clever work with the lighting and video rig.
Danny Carey on zZyzx Society’s Organasm
The zZyzx Society have a teaser of a new track called Organasm which features Danny Carey:
This is short excerpt from Organasm, also part of the upcoming zZyzx Society CD. This section was largely composed by Thighpaulsadnra and includes timbres by him, Danny Carey, Jill Fraser and Peter Grenader.
Specifically: Thigh P is doing most of the massive build at the beginning with the octave doubled shimmering triad by PG, some of the single drum beatsm the white noise based timbres, the misc muted albeit abrupt bang timbres and the beautiful two part (low then high register) Carlos-esque desending lines toward the end. Tool drummer Danny Carey and I did the “bang” after the first build (Gamalan gong and electronics) with DC filing in with other misc drum flams, the kettle drum rolls and the panning tape delayed electronic talking drum gesture in the second half. Peter Grenader is most of the metallic bell tree timbres, the very-digital sounding panning whooshes and the ‘ahhhhhh’ pedaltones. There is a lot more from Thigh P and Danny in the minutes after this clip.

For those unaware, Peter Grenader is the guy responsible for Danny’s large synth he takes out on tour.

Not a great collection of new stuff this week – been low on listening time. Send me some listening suggestions for next week!
William Patrick Corgan – Ogilala
First up is the new album by Billy Corgan (or William Patrick Corgan as this album is credited). It’s not the bombastic style Smashing Pumpkins album you might expect. This Rick Rubin produced album is pretty stripped back and acoustic, and I didn’t mind it.
Citizen – As You Please
Citizen have a new album out called As You Please. These guys put out a sombre brand of rock, which for some reason remind me a bit of Failure. Check it out…
Not really new, but the Dale Crover album was better than the last Melvins one, so it demands your time. Give in to it…
