Weekly Update 4-Oct-2017

Slightly late update this week, but I’ve been busy!  In this weeks edition:

  • Justin the Goblin Master
  • Maynard – The Work of Art Part 3
  • Albums of the Week: Chelsea Wolfe, Propagandhi, Dalek & Primus

Justin the Goblin Master

Justin Chancellor features on the new Primus album The Desaturating Seven as the Goblin Master, which I believe you can hear on the first track The Valley.

Maynard – The Art of Work Part 3

The third part of the Art of Work videos featuring Maynard James Keenan is on the Revolver website.  Check it out!

Albums of the Week

Chelsea Wolfe – Hiss Spun

Not quite as good as the last one, but this doom album is not like many others you’ve heard

Propagandhi – Victory Lap

These guys are one of the best punk bands going around and have been a favorite of mine for many years.  This album is probably some way off their best, but still worth a listen if political punk is your thing

Dälek- Endangered Philosophies

Dälek supported Tool in the dim dark past, and have put out another album full of noisy, industrial sounding rap.

Primus – The Desaturing Seven

Primus go full prog on an album that is similar in vein to the last Charlie and the Chocolate Factory one.  It’s a much better effort, though feels quite short.

The Desaturating Seven is very good. As stated though does seem short, almost an EP. There’s a couple times it sounded like TOOL to me. Really enjoyed it. I like this weekly post thing, they should let you collaborate with BMB and take over TA newsletters. 🙂 New Mastodon has a couple parts that sound kind of “western” and is pretty amazing as an EP can be. New Foo Fighters nearly every track is perfect. Totally different genre but I love them for their roots. Arch Enemy album is tight too. One of the tracks sounds like punk. Loved it!… Read more »

Oh cool! Combichrist and Lords of Acid! Some local comrades of mine are on that tour they are called Wiccid. Although I know they were taking a break for a few shows on the tour. Wiccid are members of a band from the 90’s era called Luxt that had some mild success. Crash and Erie are the two guys from Luxt that make up Wiccid. Cool dudes.

I’m stoked for Aftershock. Although I’m only going Saturday because Sunday blows. Manson was on Sunday who I would have liked to see but is that one of the shows he cancelled due to injury?

I’ll be honest, HB. I don’t get this concept of weekly updates. You’ve never shied away from posting news about happenings on the periphery of Tool (side projects and associated artist, et al). But you’ve at least kept to posting only when something was notable.

So why force out these posts every week? Does fourtheye stand to gain anything from regularly putting out content that is more likely to be watered down?

“Maynard – The Work of Art”
My goodness.
As he described his fans a year or so ago, he himself has become ‘unsufferable’.

Actually if you go to the site it says “The Art of Work” … rolls off the tongue a little different now doesn’t it? We know Maynard isn’t lazy… he is in fact a hard worker.

Because his head got so far up his own ass, that the hands followed.

It is comical that he has not made a newsletter for months now and no one gives a shit.
Haha.

I don’t think I’ve seen anyone saying they want him back writing them.
That would make me laugh pretty hard if someone actually wrote that though.

I actually enjoyed his posts ; they always felt like a coherent addendum to Tool’s comedic side.

Given the context of slow burning anticipation, I guess the off kilter tone didn’t sit very well with the fans.

Danny catching up with friends at the Black Pussy show in KC. I can only assume good times were had.
