Ettan on the forum let me know today that the Tool Drive Project has had a recent update. For those that don’t know, this project does a fantastic job of collecting, preserving and documenting Tool live recordings, and is a must visit for anyone interested in these things:
2019.03.19: The site is live! For those of you with rclone set up correctly, send us an email with a username for the site and we will get the ball rolling on setting up an account for you. Poke around the site, which is now DB driven, searchable, more interactive, and far more comprehensive than the previous installment. This has been a long time coming, and thanks goes out to Taylor and Jon for moving the upgrade to the site. It has been a needed improvement to the project for many years, and has finally come to fruition! As will all new sites, please poke around and if you find any problems, let us know!

Congratulations to all the team members both past and present for getting this project happening!
Thanks to verapamil12 for the live shot!
hell of a site, already downloading
It’s the no cost version of live dot Metallica dot com. Only for a much better band. Hopefully, more good quality recordings will be added. So far I haven’t been able to find any downloads for shows I went to. Which is the only recordings I’d really be interested in. Awesome to know this exists. Hope it doesn’t get shut down.
Will all the videos from ToolArchive be making an appearance?
It’s an audio based project, so I wouldn’t expect so in the short term.
Great project. It’s got a few shows I have been to.
I really hope they can get a recording of the 03/29/1997-Macquarie University, Sydney Australia gig. I was so incredible high from a full ‘Purple Om’, that Tool and the whole experience changed me forever. I would love to relive that night gain.
Hoping to get that a hold of that 2007 Austin show at some point. One of those “it exists but is never online” shows.
Anyone have any standout shows with rare to exceptional performance – from audio quality to song choices – recommendations?
The final show for 2002.
Anything from 2002 backwards is a great show.
^The youtube clip here for the Sydney show on April 24th, 2002 at the Sydney Entertainment Centre is pretty good.

But if I find some more good ones on the drive I’ll let you know.
Amazing tour – saw them in Adelaide that round, and is the best Tool show I’ve seen. The Melvins in support + Osseus Labyrinth doing their thing too from memory.
Yeah I was in Brisbane April 22, 2002. Opened with Flood, The Grudge, Stinkfist, Parabola, H., Schism, Sober, D/R/T, Opiate, Lateralus, Aenema.
It was pretty awesome. They played Newcastle the next night, including 46 & 2, and then the Sydney show linked above. I wish I could have traveled to all three shows… and then done Wollongong on Friday, April 26… it was school holidays after all 🙂
Awesome. Thanks for the heads up. Camden Ozzfest 1998 was my second show and is up… stoked!
aah, 98 is known as the ”golden era” for tool. M sounded better then ever and they were varying up the setlists quite a bit. if i remember Camden has a version of ”bottom” on it with an added middle section.
the Rubber Bowl recording from 98 is good.
the infamous Kalamazoo 98 is a SBD so get that if you dont.
and 2001 was a good time for them.

Nov 1st 2001
tool 2001 toronto.
toronto 2012.
and thats all i can think of. plenty other good ones.
peeace!
There’s another show from Camden in late Jan 2012 (the 29th I think) where the amphitheater was enclosed and it ended up being the smallest show they’d done in a few years. It was definitely the best post 2002 show from them I’d seen (and I’d seen a bunch). They were panning vocals left and right and other cool tricks with the sound taking advantage of the space. If it ever gets posted give it a listen.
ah no way! sounds like a good show! ya, i didnt mention 2012 too much but that was one of the first tours in awhile that had a better setlist then the boring 06 to 09 stuff they kept playing over and over and over. got pretty old for a bit there. that 2012 Camden show sounds neat. ill remember that if it ever surfaces. thanks!
red rocks June 29th 2010 is also another good one. the mk4 version. it smokes hardcore! def get that if u dont!
Bootleg copy of the new album is uploaded as one of these random obscure live concerts tomorrow. Happy hunting. (kidding) That would be an awesome April Fools though.
