There was a leaked lineup for the Aftershock Festival that came out yesterday, will Tool claimed as the headliner. Today we have formal confirmation that Tool will indeed be the final act on Sunday night the 13th of October.
Joining them on the day are such excellent bands as Gojira, Architects, Fu Manchu, The Crystal Method and Frank Carter & the Rattlesnakes. Not a bad lineup I gotta say, despite a few cringeworthy acts on the day.
At this point, I think it’s safe to assume that this will be the first of many dates to be announced across the US in the later half of the year. I’d be expecting a more extensive tour around September and October covering all the usual stops in the US and Canada.
I’ll probably go to this, event though these kind of festival shows are my least favorite way to see them. Gotta see them when possible!
hopefully this means UK tour later in the year too – dont think album will be out until they finish Euro tour. I see there is no young acts on that line up. Festivals are becoming an old persons thing to do. my kids think of it as a tea dance.
I bought tickets on pre-sale before the lineup was announced. There were already so many lineups announced for other US festivals with TOOL on the bill I knew they’d be at Aftershock.. I was also hoping for The Prodigy and unfortunately we lost Keef… There are definitely some decent bands on each day but god they could have just made two really really good days out of this. The festival gouge is real folks. If you look at it… Saturday should have been an all punk day… I mean… Blink 182 as a headliner? I’ll certainly be watching them because… Read more »
Just be sure to check out Gojira. Their latest album is nothing short of stellar (Magma)
@ out…
Stinkfist
Yep I’ve seen them twice already and I agree that “Magma” is a pretty awesome album. I’m definitely into them.
Predicting an Aussie tour early 2020.
What a bummer. All these announced tour dates, and not even a single or release date yet.
I was predicting an album announcement and single by now.
All I have left in predictions is sometime before the first tour date.
I will be really shocked if nothing is announced by the first show.
I can’t imagine them walking out on stage for the first show and not addressing the elephant in the room.
I gotta say I’m not so sure I share your optimism.
It seems they only tour Europe at the beginning of every album cycle, but who knows
Anyone else notice the animation changes on toolband.com?
Looks the same it has been for a few months now to me
Everyone’s saying they run smoother, probably some engine update with the server
No.
I thought the animation looked different too. But, then I thought maybe it was just running smoother like Hellboy mentioned. Not sure. I can’t log in right now. Although, I can still log in to FullScreenDirect. I wonder if Tool is abandoning their partnership with FullScreen? A possible reason for the upcoming password change?
Probably obvious to everyone else? I don’t know? But, I think the website update IS due to changing from FullScreenDirect to OneLiveMedia.
Since the “Upcoming Website Maintenance” email has a new domain of “OneLiveMedia” which seems to be a competitive entity to FullScreen.
Sorry, if I’m stating the obvious (to see what occurs behind). I haven’t noticed anyone else mention this (to me, mention anything). couldn’t help it, ha ha!
I haven’t seen this on the site at all before.
It’s been there more than a year ; it’s the toolarmy ad banner.
sigh. 🙁
There has been another page added, but it throws up a 404 error.
It’s under store, exclusive products
I guess this is the waiting for announcement thread….
It has gone eerily quiet since MJK posted that Puscifer pic last week.
I’m surprised we haven’t heard anything yet but after 13 years a few extra days or weeks doesn’t really bother me anymore. TOOL is back on stage and touring again in less than a week so it’s all good I guess…
