Just as I was about to write a rant about Tool have let their fans down with a lack of communication, Adam posts a grab on Instagram which teases their often previewed live track Descending. All of a sudden my anger has subsided somewhat.
Many hoped that we’d see some new songs played at the upcoming shows (the first of which is on Sunday), with probably just as many expecting more of the same setlist. I have no real insight into what I think might actually happen, but this video gives me some hope that we might actually see the full version of Descending (or whatever it’s actual name is) played this tour.
What would really be cool? If Tool decided to debut both the live version of the song, and make the recorded version available at the same time. That way we can avoid resorting to hunting down the inevitable phone camera recordings.

shane1333 posted, “Sony just released their quarterly report. In the report they listed albums you could expect before the end of the quarter. this is interesting to me because volcano is owned by epic records which is owned by Sony music entertainment I believe. Tool is not on this list. This might be bad news.”
That website is clickbait trash.
I have a lot more doubt about the new album now. We have seen this story before. Band works on album for a few months. Goes on tour to stuff there pockets. They lose focus on the album. Tour ends holidays hit. Rinse and repeat…
There is Tool profile on Spotify.
Please link, i’ve Been looking for a while and don’t see anything that looks even like it could be them
Love it. Sounds like Polvo!
Maynard is also teasing new music on Twitter.
Pretty certain they’ll be debuting at least one new song this weekend, and if it is the case surely they’ll release the recorded version first. I’m sure they wouldn’t want everyone else’s first listen to be a phone recorded clips.
Hellboy – any way you can implement an edit function to save the double posting?
“Stat tuned” and “Eyes on tool”
I’m hoping that there is some sort of detailed update coming (maybe Friday?), or a single (Descending?). Or maybe we have to wait until sunday or later in the tour to hear a new song.
Seems like something interesting is going to occur very soon!
I’ll be at the St Louis show on May 13th. The real question is…Can I avoid looking at setlists from their first gig until the St Louis show? Hope so. Major things are about to be unleashed from the Tool camp. If you’re going to a show, enjoy the experience. I really think this could be their last album.
This is amazing coming new stuff in soon. And they’ve already created profiles on digital streaming service like Spotify.
This video says 2 things to me.
new music (the riff)
july (the guitar)
